Are the UK government doing enough for refugees. Lots of reports of people driving over to collect and help them. Respect to them.

No, they are not. It's disgraceful that they show they don't care, because they really have little empathy for others suffering. Visas are really difficult to get, with extremely low numbers given. We've crawled at putting sanctions on oligarchs, helping them more than the poor people in Ukraine.

So much we should be doing, yet so little interest in taking action to help the needy and desperate

No, put the resources to process them into Calais not have hundreds there who are then told they have to go back to Brussels or on to Paris and then there are up to a weeks wait for an appointment..

Shambles doesn't come close..

Our Government are an embarrassment, compared to other nations. When several cabinet members would not be here in the UK today if their parents or grandparents hadn't been granted quick entry to the UK, it seems incredibly hypocritical to be insisting on paying for visas and asking displaced people to scan and upload documents to a fucking website.

If we are so concerned about security, bring people over, second the hotels previously used for red list quarantine, put people in hotels with food provided, and "process" their applications in the conference suite. I don't even think that's necessary, but it's an option.

It breaks my heart to see the families and children with their lives in a suitcase with nowhere to go.

PLEASE, please contribute to the many humanitarian aid charities and funds, millions raised already.

Certainly not disagreeing that would should be doing more.

But as a country that's already vastly overcrowded I would imagine that it's not simply a case of opening the borders and allowing an influx of people in, surely infrastructure must be put in place first to not only let them in but housing and support?

Yes there must be many unoccupied buildings available but it's not that easy.

Perhaps house some in the seized properties in London from the rich russian billionaires

It's not easy for sure but certainly more action is required.

Looking back to 1938 when the Daily Mail complained about the influx of German Jews we can clearly see a comparison with the daily mail of today along with the morals of its reader base.

Still many brexiteers wanted closed borders so they should be happy at the problems the Ukrainians are having. Priti Patel must be getting her portrait up on a lot of living room walls. Rule Britannia and all that.

For the record we always had closed borders if we wanted them whilst in the EU.

There’s plenty of room for immigrants in this country and plenty of money. The only problem is the money isn’t shared out.

For the war? Possibly part of Putin being confident that we are not united and weak. Also his confidence in his belief he has influence over our government was to blame. He was pro Brexit.

Is Brexit to blame for the refugees? No, Russia is.

Is Brexit responsible for our abhorrent behaviour towards migrants? Yes in my opinion.

We've written to our MP today, with this being a comparison we've made. My family background includes Jewish people who perished in the Holocaust. They had family here in the UK at the start of the war, but rules wouldn't have allowed them to come, unless they could all have been sponsored by employers. That was despite a very well-to-do family existing here, with a large home. Of course, everyone who remained on continental Europe were exterminated.

It was mentioned on news this morning that there was a risk of trafficking now because of children/mothers getting separated and people turning up and offering lifts who could be dodgy.

The faster they can get folk to safety the better. UK needs to accelerate their processing procedures.

There was a yougov survey in December that suggested that upto 18% of people still think brexit is a good idea.

I know you can't always trust surveys etc. But still, that's potentially millions of people still completely detached from reality.
