Always thought the Eastern Europeans were a bit different, more nationalistic hence the call to arms being more of a natural progression I guess. Personally I think the number of UK volunteers would surprise some with large numbers volunteering but would you be one of them?

I think most volunteers who go to fight or humanitarian roles there moral conviction will not stop them worrying about getting killed.i for one is considering going and if I can make any difference or stop one child being killed or maimed and I get killed with no grave marker so be it

Knees and eye sight are a bit dodgy. But would have a go. Although I’m not from the UK so could claim neutrality.

Considering volunteering..

The only driver is my daughter who, if Putin carries on, puts her at risk of the things we feared as kids.

Nuclear war.. he needs to be stopped.

Family are not impressed at the suggestion and don't know what it would do to her.

If we got drawn into it. As a former TA soldier I would consider it my duty to defend my country

Iv just found myself in an argument with a few people on other social media platforms regarding this. I personally don't agree with anyone who has had no military experience from Britain going to fight in Ukraine. They are not ready to see what war brings and it will change them for ever. They will also be massive liability to the Ukrainian soldiers putting them at risk through having to carry them of you like. They don't know the layout, entry/exits etc..civilians in Ukraine have been subjected to violence and can maybe withstand more of it than someone who has never been in this situation.

I'm not only talking through my own opinion but have military background/family who have fought in wars and have voiced their concerns over this also, apart from from anything else. We have all seen the paranoid behaviour of putin himself. When he finds out and he will that brittish men are fighting with ukraine he will see this as a threat from Nato. Its not going to help the situation at all.

No. I am Irish and no other country ever helped us. I imagine if we were attacked all the Polish/Ukraine people would be on the first flights out.

If most of your migrant population came to your country fleeing war, then it makes sense if your country was attacked they would flee this new war.

If you didn't go to fight for Yemen, then you're only going to Ukraine because the media has convinced you that Ukraine is worth more than Yemen. Russia is more evil than the Saudis.

I'd fight for the UK. The first thing Ireland did when free was 100,000 people went and fought in ww2 for the UK. The UK and Ireland are like two brothers fighting in a front garden and then someone comes up the road climbs up into the garden and hits one of the brothers. Of course both brothers are going to beat the snot out of this person. It does not need to be said.

I would consider going to war for France and Spain, portugal etc, mainly because they are very friendly countries and although they never "fought" for Ireland they rendered aid in times of need.

Also, the further away the event is, the less of a clear picture I have of what is actually going on, or why they are even fighting. I have no clear way to know if Russia is lying or Ukraine. I do support sanctions on Russia until their currency collapses or they leave ukraine though, because I think a line of 60km long of armoured trucks proves your point, no need to kick their heads in.

OP, do you mean who, from the UK, would volunteer to go to Ukraine to fight? Or who would volunteer to fight here if we were in their situation?

I know I should never say this or even think it but I really am starting to think it's time to take Putin on. Finish him off and how horrable this sounds, a third world war. We have screwed the planet up and maybe its time for humans to stop.

More nationalistic than who? The British? The Americans?

Someone being more willing to fight for their country - especially when it's not happening in their own country - than a Brit or a Yank? History, recent and less so, tells us that's a rarity.

I wouldn't fight in anyone else's war. Given my physical condition, I wouldn't be fit for combat even if I had to defend my own.

So, I'd have to resist some other way.

Or badly wounded eg amputee, and being treated possibly in substandard war zone conditions, unable to get out?

Princes Risborough, Luasanne, Alderney

you couldn't possibly get a more nationalistic country than engerland right now to be fair. wether the same raging nashies would eat their words or step up to the plate if the island was invaded is another matter.

couple, us we him her.

I think there's other ways to support the Ukrainian people if you feel that strongly,I'm sure the refugee camps would be grateful for all the help they can get, leave the fighting and politics for the professional soldiers and politicians, hopefully this can be resolved before too many more lose their life's needlessly.

I'm not saying I wouldn't fight if needed but I wouldn't add fuel to Putin's fire by going over there.

It's only going to solidify his views in the eyes of the Russian people if they see other countries joining up to kill russian soldiers.

It's a fucking mess to be honest and a tragedy for the people of Ukraine.

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer to your question OP

And I admire people who have the courage to fight for others.

But there is a much bigger picture to look at and the old saying goes "don't pull a Tiger by it's tail"

Has never been more relevant.

A convoluted answer to your question OP

I would fight for my family,I would fight for my country,I would fight for freedom and democracy and if called upon I would fight for peace if that means in another country so be it.

Para bellum.

Not in Ukraine no, and nor should anyone without previous military service who's not from there..

Medical service etc then fine but a UN or NGO like MSF who are neutral might be the better option for the humanitarian input needed now and going forward..

Tayside, Midlands and Chester

FIRST THEY CAME By Martin Niemöller

First they came for the Communists And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Communist Then they came for the Socialists And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists And I did not speak out

Because I was not a trade unionist Then they came for the Jews

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me

And there was no one left

To speak out for me.
