That's a question for the politicians. But they must be hard and unanimous on economic sanctions for a start

There is some truth that western leaders have turned a blind eye to Russian activities and accepted Russian money/gas/oil because it suited their needs. It almost certainly didnt help with (Putins superiority complex) when that Orange Bloke who used to be President tried to break up NATO or when he kissed Putin’s feet in Helsinki and witheld military aid to Ukraine.

But bare some responsibility? absolutley not, the guy who gave the order to invade a democratically elected country bares the responsibility.

With all due respect, the west has financed this and continues to do so with it's blatant failure to block Russia from swift completely

The West has contributed to his 'war' chest with the purchase of gas/oil so have India, China and a lot of other counties. The same can be said for China (another war just waiting to happen). I understand what you say about 'swift' but it really is a fine line to balance, cause the economy enough pain to make him (or his minions) reconsider or completley collpase it and risk the fury that would bring.

I have to admit I do find it difficult to comprehend how the 'west' can sanction Russia whilst still buying gas and oil. Which is probably why a total shut down of Swift hasnt happened. Until he turns off the taps that is.

But that is our fault for not been energy self sufficient. We got into bed with a scorpion and now it has stung us.
