Sajid Javid attacks Jimmy Carr for his Roma joke and wants a ‘ban’ but supports Boris on his Savile jibe at Starmer.

Another member of the cabinet that I just can’t take seriously.

Gross hypocrisy but nothing really new..

Another sycophant trying to justify the outrageous bull that Boris trots out time after time ..

It was pointing out most people only contribute the Holocaust/Nazi to just something that happened to the Jewish community. While never thinking or caring about the rest. Many people remember the 6 million Jews, but alot forget about the other 6 million

Its also making people hopefully self reflect on why that is.

I was initially offended but with more context I can see what Carr was trying to do. However, I still think mass extermination/genocide of people is an area that comedians should steer clear of. At best it was extremely ill conceived and bad taste.

Having seen the clip but not seen anything either side, I am not sure of context or whether it was a live studio audience. If it was a real audience, then I do not hear any indignation or shock. I hear belly laughs. It says a lot about those in the audience.

I know how difficult and sensitive a subject the holocaust can be. However, one reason why the general public are so aware of the 6 million Jews that were murdered but far less aware (or even totally unaware) of the Gypsies and Slavs and others, is down to money!

Much of the media, including the film industry, is/was owned by Jews. They have rightly ensured people remain aware of the atrocities. However, understandably, the focus has generally been on the Jews.

It was a punching down joke.

Low calibre for a usually funny Jimmy Car.

I don't especially care either way. I'm not offended, but I didn't think it was funny either.

Coming next, more awareness from Jimmy Carr about Rwanda, Srebenica and other atrocities under the guise of 'comedy'..

The idea that a joke about it being funny that a group of people were victims of genocide is in any way beneficial to the targets of that joke is pretty stupid.

Carr wanted to make an "edgy" joke and came up with some nonsense to justify it. You'd have to be very gullible (or just keen to excuse attacking a minority group) to believe his intentions were to educate.

Have seen him live with the dame routine, it was very ‘raw’ even by his standards. Probably just the wrong side of the line for some.

They play by twisted logic, but that is only because the PM is twisted, so the rest of the cabinet have to twist also, so that they say become incomprehensible rubbish to the keen observer.

Jimmy Carr even said before starting the joke, this is a career ender, then gave 3 reasons why the joke is good,

1 it's funny

2 it's edgy and it keeps the atrocious actions in the mind of people

3 it's educational, not many people were taught that they persecuted more than Jews.

Its been out 5 weeks and now there is outrage, why is that.

1. Is at best subjective. I usually like Jimmy Carr, but this wasn't anywhere near his usual standards of funny

2. It's edgy yes.

3. Most people have an understanding of the other minority groups who were persecuted by the Nazis. Piss poor excuse for the crappy joke.

Presumably most people didn't know about it, until the word got around. Hence the delayed outrage.

I thought it was hilarious but then felt bad for laughing then cringed at the subject matter... But it was raw to the bone dark humour at its best. There's nothing off the table to joke about and a good comedian doesn't pull his punches...

They were his 3 reasons he said after the joke to give it context... Context matters

Because it now suits someone’s agenda to bring it up ?

Indeed. Its ver similar to the Joe Rogan thing and Spotify. Loads of his podcasts have now been taken down by Spotify. Strangely enough 99% of the ones taken down where him with other comedians

Yet the Dr Robert Malone one, which is one of the main controversial ones is still up

If you found the joke funny and would also find a joke about 9/11 victims or Ira victims funny, then I get it, it your sense of humour.

But if you find this joke funny but would take offence at a joke degrading your community or group you identify with. Then obviously it says something else very dark about you.

I would tell jokes about 9/11, Englishmen and the ira (both sides)....

No topic should be off limits to laugh about... Dark humour gets people through dark times.

He’s been using the joke since late Oct in his live show. So there’s been plenty of time for outrage.

There was a palpable drawing of breath from the audience when he cracked that one.

1. I am not practising no but my maternal grandmother was Jewish and my maternal grandfather was gypsy (double whammy with Jimmy Carr for this family). My mother is Jewish, my father isn’t.

2. If you are Jewish then you understand the relevance of it being my maternal grandmother.

3. If YOU were offended then I do apologise as most definitely not my intent.

4. Please could you deconstruct what I said and identify which parts were antisemitic as opposed to a statement of fact?

Thank you

Not letting this lie as I was called a racist!!!

“Much of the media, including the film industry, is/was owned by Jews” = is that statement true?

In the aftermath of WWII some examples would be MGM Studios, United Artists. More recently Spielberg and Katzenberg set up Dreamworks. Robert Maxwell and the Mirror Group. So clearly that statement is true.

“They have rightly ensured people remain aware of the atrocities.”

So I am clearly supportive of the need to maintain awareness of what happened and the horrific nature of it.

“However, understandably, the focus has generally been on the Jews.” = is that statement true?

There have been many books, TV series, films etc about the Holocaust (or the fallout from it), probably the most famous being Schindler’s List directed by Spielberg. The vast majority of these focus on the Jewish aspects of what the Nazis did and very few on other ethnic or societal groups. That is understandable if the people making the films etc are themselves Jewish, ie “it’s our story”. Name me any film about the gypsies or slavs etc that is as well known as Schindler’s List or The Pianist or Life is Beautiful or Sophie’s Choice etc etc

How is ANY of that antisemitic or racist?

I am deeply offended by your accusation and believe you should apologise!
