Boris and the vote of no confidence

I think even with the vote of no confidence, he would probably keep his job, because I think getting to 54 to have no confidence is easy, the hard part is getting over half the tories MP’s to vote him out.

Watch this space. It happened with TM, also it will prevent another vote of no confidence for 12 months. So the choice is this, send the letters now, he retains his job, or wait three months to see how he does in the local elections then vote of no confidence, by that time he would be at his most exposed, then they can get him out and say, well because of his poor performance we are now justified at kicking him out of no. 10. Only the shrewdest of MP’s will think that.

They're all just playing wait and see.

What always gets to me is they literally don't give a damn about Johnson's many lies, his hypocrisy, his corruption, his incompetence, his breaking of rules and even the law. All they care about is if he can get away with it enough to help them win the next election.

This might be a stupid question. But pretty much no one knows how many letters have been submitted. What stops whoever holds the letters from sitting on them and doing nothing even if the threshold is reached?

It needs a coordinated effort to get to the 54. That may come when the Met have finished their inquiries.

what sickens the silent majority the most is that the conservative and unionist party ministers are so utterly spineless that they choose to sit on their hands with a wobbley lets just wait and see attitude to governance. the silent majority would prefer their leaders to actually lead instead of wringing their hands and muttering woe are we whilst doing absolutely nothing to form coherent strategy while the country slides further round the u-bend .... never has there been such a weak government that is so absolutely ineffectual and comprehensively useless.

Good point, cabinet backing is important, and currently it’s they are just waiting, except for nadine I think her mind is already made up.
