Unprecedented sanctions on Russia.....

What exactly might they be?

Will we stop buying Russian gas?

Err, well, we could. But all we need is one frosty morning to leave us with a gas shortage. Which would also leave us with an electricity shortage. (Gas powered electricity stations?)

So, what else could we do to sanction Russia?

Well, we could stop buying their cars, their oil, their cameras, their coal, their microprocessors?

I can't see the average Russian shuddering at the thought of these measures. And they are perfectly capable of making their own.

So, what else could we do? Well, I guess we could cut off the Russian access to the global VISA system. Oh, wait on, didn't Amazon try to do that recently and almost succeed?

So, what else could we do to sanction Russia? Well, I guess Ronald McDonald could sulk in a corner whilst closing down all Russian branches of McDonalds.

Can I remove my tongue from my cheek now?

I've worked and socialised alongside Russian, Balerusian, Hungarian, Ukrainian and even English people (including retirees to the Spanish Costas) all within the same 24 hours.

These people are no different to you and I. They have no wish for war, they have no wish for aggression, they have only one wish.

To be able to earn money, pay their bills, provide for their families and to live in peace.

Is that too much to ask?

Outside of Moscow and St Petersburg Russia

Is seriously third world. They can’t make anything that the world would buy. The wealth has been siphoned off by Putin and his anointed friends. Putin alone has taken tens of billions.

They don’t give a shit about ordinary Russians.

Surely we have the ability to single out say fifty movers & shakers - Putin included and threaten them directly?

Sounds quitely similar to Bo Jo and his family of misfits.

But what do I know?

Fully agree, but try telling that to Putin.

He's the one who seems hell bent on war.

They are not British or American tanks massing on the Ukrainian border.

Should he actually invade then what do you suggest? A bunch of flowers and a welcome to Ukraine card?

We get less than 5% of our gas from Russia. It would affect the EU more.

Johnson's Russian handlers will make sure any sanctions do not in any way affect anything that actually matters to the people they work for.

Hell bent on war?

Now I certainly don't agree with everything that Mr Putin does / has done / might do.

However, there are some pertinent facts...

Exactly which countries / presidents have used nukes in warfare?

Exactly which country did the most to bring about the storming of "the enemy"?

And besides which, we seriously need to start accepting some national borders here.

Ukraine for instance - what's that all about? Just because they were part of the USSR, and they got to keep Chernobyl, Antonov aircraft and tasty chicken breasts wrapped around garlic butter?

But, I'm not saying that I am right, but if you look into the whole USSR thing. Then in the old days, there was an Union. An union of Soviet socialist republics. Kinda but not exactly the same as the European union. I guess it was a "Union" in the same way that Unite can be compared with National Miners Union.

This is why Germany has stayed out of, it although if they had not agreed to nord stream2 this situation would probably never have arisen in the 1st place.

Good answer.

"Germany" learned their lesson.

That fancy gas pipeline, nord stream shit, doesn't involve Germany.

Even in World War 1, then it could be argued that Germany as a country didn't exist.

The map of the world and the map of countries is constantly evolving.

One thing which would stop wars would be if the world would accept borders.

"Johnson's Russian handlers will make sure any sanctions do not in any way affect anything that actually matters to the people they work for."

He doesn't have Russian handlers; though his Party does have Russian donors.

Since Liz Truss knows who these people are - and what they're about - you kind of have to wonder why she and Boris are ok to just let them get on with it unless Russia invades Ukraine.

How is that the trigger that makes what they do unacceptable?

The day they go after the Russian uk money it will send a message that the UK is not safe for your ill gotten gains and there would be an exodus of money moved out of the uk's so called safe haven.

We were in the eu then and it was an eu response not individual countries within the eu much as it is now.
