If they did, they would have to investigate why the Police Officers who are permanently present in and around Downing Street allowed these events to go ahead.

In theory they should investigate but what times that would bring with the PM and senior officials being interviewed under caution.

The priority has to be investigating a corrupt government who are empowered to make decisions. I'd rather see them investigating party gate and blackm**ling allegations made against those in power. The government should be setting high standards when in public office and their

behaviour should be beyond reproach. It would go some way to restoring public trust in those entrusted with governing the country.

Once all these allegations / investigations have all been carried our they can investigate other allegations

Except it's not just about a few drinks. It's about potentially breaking the law he introduced. It's also about immense hypocrisy. It's also about literally risking the lives of other people, possibly even ending the lives of other people.

The Met cannot because, they are expected to demonstrate a certain amount of discretion in guarding Ministers and government facilities.

It's one of those awkward realities, so this does have to be investigated by another force. This is often the case, regardless, but this is a particularly sensitive matter.

The fact they party'd is an annoyance, the real issue is the investigation into a bunch of cronies capable of bare faced lies in front of 650 elected Members of Parliament (some of which are also complicit), to the press and the rest of the population.

It is the lies, deceit and that they believe they are above the rules they set themselves which has destroyed trust and integrity.

Like Bill Clinton, his downfall wasn't the blowjob in the office nor the spunk on Lewinski's dress, it was the bare faced lies used to deny that anything ever happened.

If they are capable of such lies to Parliament and us as the Electorate over wine, snacks and cake, then at a time when so many other questions are being asked such as cronie contracts, legislation then what else are they lying about?

Boris is a born liar, he has history of being sacked for lies, he constantly gets caught out as a PM and previously as Mayor of London.

He told many lies and falsehoods over Brexit (as did both sides) and integrity in the highest UK office is paramount.

The police should investigate and the Queen should be involved once it is proven he lied to her Subjects and force an election.

I think this situation is actually likely to hasten his downfall.

The plan was obviously to get the Sue Grey report out, talk up any favourable bits, redact any awful bits and make the odd sacrificial sacking. Then Johnson et al could run around saying it had all been looked at and taken care of and the country had to move on.

They can't do that anymore. This story and the public anger will continue...

For instance, my mum died. Alone. Because of restrictions.

As did many other mums n dads.

Alone. Denied their chance of any human contact in their final days.

That is why the anger, and that is why Boris will NEVER be allowed to forget.

Blair faced police questions over Cash for Honours back in the day. I think that was the only other case.

(Then again, it's pathetic the met didn't seem to bother investigating the recent scandal of Tory treasurers apparently buying honours.)

This is to be able to redact the parts of the report that are "under Police investigation". They are hoping that people will get bored whilst they wait. He has no other defence.
