"He's still got another 3 years or so of power. What happens in 3 or so years time? Does Boris bow out of power? Accept defeat? Accept his pension? " Assuming he is still pm at the next GE it's up to the voters to assess his term and any proposals for the future. Also consider the alternatives available in the form of other parties Then cast their votes accordingly. If he is rejected he has no choice but to bow out and collect any pension he is entitled too. Same as any other previous PM I would assume

"I don’t think he will stay. He will want to leave as PM not a voted out PM. It has always been his entitled path to be PM by whatever means necessary. Brexit sadly was the perfect opportunity for Bullshit master extraordinaire to blossom as all he had to do was lie. No facts we’re needed to get Brexit done. They didn’t exist on the leave side as it was all vague promises. The U.K. deserves better but I can’t see a credible candidate in his yes sir cabinet. " You could well be right that he will want to leave after one term as undefeated and as you say will not have the get brexit done thing to use next time. My gut feeling is he will go for another term to try to win without brexit (if the party allow him). Absolutely no evidence, just a gut feeling

"the brutal reality of the massive increases in the cost of living will have an equally massive affect on how badly the tory party are going to do in any elections going forward. their losses at the polls will naturally look enormous when compared to the anomally of the last GE." This is indeed true. It's often been the case that governments do badly when things like the cost of living go up. It's not unique and this government are no more immune than previous ones. Also true the swing will look greater than normal due to the last election anomaly. Labour need to be ready with a decent plan for the country going forward

" I think boris will be replaced before the next election but can still see the Tories winning again as its nothing new for the government being behind in the polls mid term and lets be honest labour have not come up with any policies so nobody knows what they stand for anyway.

This is the elephant in the room that they (incumbent government) face. The so called blue wall won’t have the finances to withstand the inflation tsunami that’s coming from import costs, skilled labour shortages and energy price hikes - combined with the relative lack of growth sector jobs in that region, then the blue swing voter areas will suffer disproportionally.
