The guy Johnson picked to investigate Partygate partied too?

Partygate gets worse and worse.

Not only did a bunch of Tory ministers and Johnson himself apparently attend illegal parties while the country was in lockdown.

Not only did Johnson's spokesperson laugh and joke over 1 of those parties.

Not only were damning pics produced, especially the 1 that showed Shaun Bailey - Tory London Mayor candidate at the time - with a bunch of grinning idiots. (I especially liked the catered food pictured that prove this event was in no way an impromptu meeting. One of the many exucses routintely trotted out by Johnson et al.)

Not only was Johnson in 1 pic when apparently hosting a zoom quiz to dozens alongside 2 others in tinsel and a santa hat. (destroying the excuses that he knew nothing about any parties. Also destroying the excuse he personally broke no rules as he plainly was breaking the law at the time by being in that room with 2 others for the party.)

Not only did a damning email come out showing organisers had planned a party days in advance. + Number 10’s head of HR told staff taking part in the quiz to leave through the rear exit. (Always a sure sign of innocence when you tell people to sneak out the back.)

But now it appears the guy Johnson picked to investigate Partygate - Simon Case - was at parties himself.

Even better/worse: "No 10 insisted it would be an “independent, fact finding mission”.

"Asked whether Case could be personally compromised, they said: “You can be assured due diligence will have been observed”."

And now Case has resigned.

At this point, I've moved beyond anger to laughter.

(Sorry if the 1st message was too long. But I really tried to sum up Partygate as briefly as I could. I even skipped over apparent breaches by Sunak. And Shapps. And Williamson. And Coffrey. I can't even remember them all at this point.)

As bad as it gets, wonder if all those private jets flying whoever in and out during lockdown periods without isolation when passenger flights were grounded will get noticed.

Correction. He didn't resign:

"Simon Case has recused himself from ‘partygate’ investigation, No 10 confirms"

Imagine spending a week and a half investigating parties only to discover you had one yourself.

It's like something out of a Christopher Nolan film.

I stole that off Twitter .

The day following the release of the Allegra Stratton's practice press conference The Health Secretary,Sajid Javid was supposed to do the morning TV and radio interviews but failed to appear,He did show the day after explaining that his absence was due to him being angry, When asked if he was still angry he said the response from Number 10 was good as they had appointed the top civil servant , a man who is responsible, very professional, very serious, highly respected , thorough professional , as Simon Case is no longer leading the investigation (1) I wonder if Mr Javid is angry again ?, and (2) has anyone bothered to ask Sue Gray who is now conducting the probe wether or not she was involved in any parties ?

Sue Gray apparently won't hold back in her inquiries, she also just happens to work in the department overseen by the very quiet of late Michael Gove..

Games within games..

I'm not angry at the result, I'm angry at Boris and the government. If Boris had done things the correct way, he would never have had to call a by election.

Don't get me started on those parties, I'm not embarrassed to admit that I voted for them but I've tried to defend the tories but there is now no defence left. The other parties don't need to do anything. Just sit back and let Boris loose all those voters at the next election.

I think we shall have to see because in a general election more people may turn out especially if the Tory’s get their act together and get a candidate who is actually a resident instead of trying to drop one in from another area.

Come on man, we have seen pivotal moments in recent history when the writing on the wall became apparent to all.

Today , Brexit/Remain is now history. Today trust and decency is centre stage.

It's good to see more and more people now seem to be seeing Johnson for what he is.

Sadly and unsurprisingly, the new pick to investigate Partygate - Sue Gray - will likely do all she can to just kick things into the long grass and then discreetly bury the lot.

A few things said about her in an old BBC article:

"Officials see her as a force of conservatism within the civil service. She is an internal critic of attempts to open up the old Whitehall machine to competition or scrutiny."

"First, Ms Gray is notorious (like Sir Jeremy) for her determination not to leave a document trail. "

"Even when a document trail exists, Ms Gray is enthusiastic about keeping it a secret. We know that she advised special advisers on how to destroy email (by "double-deletion") to thwart FOIA requesters. She did not advise them on the requirements of the code on public record-keeping. We also know, via the Freedom of Information Act, that she kept no log of why, how or when she destroys documents (contrary to that guidance). "

So rug well and truely folded back and broom moving stuff towards it. No doudt whilst a very large white sheet to put over everything is winging its way from Amazon.

I'm sure there must be the occasional Tory MP who isn't a terrible human being.

However, Johnson and his cabinet...

And now Johnson has been photographed in the garden at No 10 during lockdown with wine and a bunch of people. When that was against the law.

The old whataboutism excuse. I wondered when somebody would try that to excuse our awful leader and government from repeatedly breaking the law they themselves introduced.

Ah, the old assume he's a Tory response! He's failed miserably on this and other issues. I have no party allegiances and as such am happy to criticise all political parties on their obvious failings. I'm also well aware that the Labour party isn't the answer as it stands

There are multiple examples at the top of this thread of our government breaking the law they introduced. At a time when most of us followed the law, often making serious sacrifices.

That's what Partygate is about. However you try to spin it.
