Very amusing. The comments are comedy gold. Similar to the kind of bollocks that the pro brexit crowd here like to post. "it's just a flesh wound"! Lol

I think jersey and maybe Guernsey gave some more fishing permits to French fishermen as they have now provided the information that was originally asked for. I assume the duty payable from January will make EU imports more expensive. Who gets this duty money once paid- does it go to the seller?

"The vote was 'stay in or leave ' there was no mention of trade deals etc. It was a simple question. Do you you want to stay in the EU or not. Like many others I voted out and would do so again. The transition from being governed to independence is going to take time and effort. It is a naturally a matter of course that the first few years will be difficult but that should improve with time. The remainers should understand that the whole of the UK voted, and voted to leave the EU for whatever personal reasons they had at the time " The whole of the UK did not vote. From those who did vote, there was a slim majority to leave the EU. Leaving the EU meant different things to different people and there were promises made of a better future amongst many other things which have been covered again and again. Guesses at the timescales for this better future range from 5 years to 20 years which I was certainly not in any manifesto. I would agree that eventually things will settle down but whether the UK will be better off is dubious unless the UK moves closer to the EU with trade and the single market. At the moment, that is impossible. Especially with this goverment. There is also too much hatred caused by a vote which split the country. That will not go away. Brexit has caused a big hit to the economy (Covid also was an impact but other countries had Covid and the UK came out worse). Trade has been lost and businesses affected - there are always exceptions. The hatred of the EU is too great amongst a lot of people who voted to leave and that will not change. The goverment has made the UK a global laughing stock and Johnson continues to fuel this with his lies and back peddling. A new PM is very likely in the near future along with a new cabinet. A softer approach to the EU and a willingness to reverse some of the red lines of this hard brexit may improve things. The UK will not be allowed to rejoin the EU in any of our lifetimes - not that they want to - but, some changes will take place and that can only be good. The short term future is not good and Brexit is the culprit however, things will improve, of that I am certain.

But they fucked us all over. I agree though, whatever the reason people voted leave for is irrelevant. The reality is, brexit was never meant to have any benefits to Britain or British people.

"Think I'll give a miss to re joining an EU where it thinks that if you have incoming shipments over 900 euros in 12 months means your are in importer. Some states now need their citizens to give their PID to retailers outside the EU, not just the UK, so they can receive shipments. Unelected dictators are watching them closely it seems. " And here we are with at one point 19 people working as ministers in this government who have not received a single vote from anyone. Only Boris voted for them. Then there’s the small fact 50% of MPs are selected by head office not constituencies. So your told who you can vote for. True democracy at work I think not.

The remainers should understand that the whole of the UK voted, and voted to leave the EU for whatever personal reasons they had at the time " You probably had some reasons for voting leave, but as far as I can see many people voted leave based on the reasons presented to them by the "leave campaign" and many of the promises and benefits have proven to be lies.

We have. It's shit. There are no benefits. The people who wanted to leave fed a mountain of bullshit to the voters. Still, the funny thing to remember is, people still think brexit is a good idea. 18% according to a recent survey! Haha. Absolutely bonkers.

We haven't left yet except on a treaty which we, apparently, didn't agree with when we signed it. We are still negotiating. We are still paying. We haven't imposed all of the leaving conditions yet. Do you not know this?

We wouldn't have to negotiate with them and we'd be a part of a big trading block to get the best deals for the UK. Oh well.

Even though we signed a treaty agreeing the terms. You do not understand that? You don't believe that is happening? You didn't know that's what is happening? You are deliberately changing the subject?

"it's clear that the bonfire of red tape is an ever increasing pile which will clearly never ever be lit, but will instead weigh down any improvement in the country. " The red tape that's gone so far is food safety, clean rivers, tax avoidance, etc. Things the benefit rich people, big business etc. Although this is heavily out weighed by the mountains of additional red tape for individuals, small businesses buying and selling with the EU.
