Laura Kuenssberg (BBC political editor, tweeted at 1940 this evening (8th Decembe,2021)

"In huge headlines out of this press conference, don’t miss a hint from PM that there could be need for ‘national conversation’ about mandatory vaccines"

If I remember correctly many were attacking von der Leyen recently re her point about European nations needing to have a conversation about exactly the same thing ...

difference is those who work in the nhs know the rules before they take the job so not really mandatory,dont want to follow there rules you dont apply for a job in the nhs,a lot different than making everyone get jabbed,myself im double jabbed and boosterd but that was my choice same as its others choice if they decide not to have it

In their defence, surely VDL and BJ are simply suggesting that such an emotive stratagem needs to be discussed and all views and opinions taken into consideration before any decision is taken. And, in Europe, it’s the Commission (you know, those “unelected bureaucrats” who are simply the equivalent of our “unelected Civil Servants”) who would be required to draft any guidelines that individual MS might (or might not) implement.

Surely democratic nations working appositely? For once...

Did they for the newly mandated Covid vaccine?

There are not any countries mandating vaccination. They curtail some of your choices if you decide not to. Like what activities you can be involved in or...what job you can do.

Is there a problem with that?

I am not sure but the local health authority authorise the dosing of the water supply for their region. How much and how often is another question.

Covid vaccinations are probably going to be required on an ongoing basis as they get adjusted to tackle new variants. Not sure there should be mandatory vaccinations but I do see a future for Covid passes in many community settings.

By Covid pass, I mean an updated NHS App pass (or similar) that confirms your vaccination status, the date of your last positive Covid test, or proof of a negative test within the preceding 24/48 hours.

People can choose to be unvaccinated if they want, but in this new virally toxic world that we live in, they are just going to have to accept that their choices might have consequences about the things that they will have to now do to co-exist in a virally toxic world.
