Thornaby

Conservative retain seat

Majority slashed from 19k to circa 5k.

10% swing to labour.

Turnout plummeted.

Not good for the government.

Lots of Conservatives stopped at home.

A win is a win.

The interesting by-election will be North Shropshire, Owen Patterson's old seat.

With a low turn out of 34% the conservatives still poled over 50% of the vote.

If anything a poor result for Labour as I would have thought they all would have made the effort to try out turn the seat red.

They conceded the result within minutes of the counting starting.

With only 34% of the turnout the Tories vote was slashed from 64.5 to 51.5 %

yes a total disaster even you must see that, maybe it will wake labour up and they will start telling people what they intend to do rather than what they wouldn't only then will they start getting support.

Historically mid term bi elections usually go against the government of the day, not this time doesnt that tell you anything about the so called opposition? Spin it however you want but its a total disaster for labour.

Labour increased slightly, possibly at the expense of the Lib Dems.

I see the Conservative electorate sending a message to Downing Street. "We're piased off with you but not pissed off enough to give our vote to anyone else".

I don’t think anyone wants to rejoin the EU at this stage, we have only just left, I think it’s more important we deal with the massive turd that is Brexit,

Not at this stage, we have only just left, I am sure when the stench from the Brexit turd gets even worse there will be a push to rejoin, anyway, the EU wouldn’t have us back

I think the only way a country will be able to join the EU in the future is if that country has mandatory Covid vaccinations.!
