Highways England have been granted an injunction in order to keep protestors off their roads.

Should protestors break this injunction, they would face contempt of court action, and that could lead to jail.

Right decision, or heavy-handed?

Just a load of fucking idiots, stopping essential services causing more pollution by causing long traffic jams and alienating the public. Its doing nothing for the cause but the leader has said he wants to see hundreds of people in jail at the time of the cop summit to embarrass the government.

Because he is probably thinking that the jail terms will be a few weeks here and there.

Dish out a couple of 5 stretches and he may think a bit differently.

I just watched it the guy is an utter moron and can only take a guess on the intellect of anyone who follows him . comparing himself to Winston Churchill and taking no responsibly for the women in the jam for 6 hours who is apparently now paralysed due to a stroke for not being able to get to hospital. They should lock that twat up and hopefully his supporters will watch that and see him for the twat he is.

It's the right decision. They've made their point and they've, basically, been told to find another way to protest; which is entirely possible, without causing disruption.

Some people are prepared to break the law and go to prison for protesting; it'll likely happen this time, too.

I have to say, whilst I'm all for insulating houses - the local council are doing mine right now - I don't think it's an issue worth risking lives over.

The injunction is valid.

are you all mad?! The climate wotsit needs activists like this!! If it wasn't for awesome people like these then NOBODY would know there's a crisis at hand! They really do create awareness of global warming because there's hardly any mention of it on the telly or radio.

So let them have the right to protest!

Even though their message says 'insulate britain' ie make things warm...they ARE allowed to protest AGAINST waking things warm....

"Mum paralysed by stroke after M25 protest delayed trip to hospital by six hours

The woman's son Chris said he was 'so angry and so upset' as he watched his mum 'slip away' while they were stuck in standstill traffic on the M25. Doctors said her recovery would have been minimal if she had arrived within 90 minutes"

I listened while travelling today and the representative of the protesters said: 'Well that's sad, but people have to know about climate change because it could kill people in the long run!'

These idiots need to get a grip. Prison won't be good enough for them.

I think the NI power grid is still mostly powered by fossil fuels. Maybe less than 2/3% is from 'renewables' ...but luckily for us the weather and climate is still controlled by the sun here in god's country and not by the government, the stinky bellends (XR) and Greta thunderbird.

But if you didn’t connect your device to use that renewal energy it would become available for someone who’s energy generation currently comes from coal.. Paying a premium for “green” energy is little more than greenwash. If you think by paying an energy premium you are making any meaningful reduction in your personal CO2 emissions you are lying to yourself.

If renewable energy went unused it wouldn't be contributing to pollution..

The UK only has two coal fired powet stations, West Burton and Ratcliffe, and these will be decommissioned next year.

Both are in "stand by" status and only run as required.

I know that West Burton generated a few weeks ago, and contributed 1.6% of our daily electricity needs.

I’ve usually a pack of cable ties in my vehicle. I would happily join other motorists in gently securing road blockers and lifting them to the verge side. Like tripping up someone running from police or moving to the side to let emergency vehicles pass I would see it as my civic duty to do so.

"Insulating Homes for free is a good idea, but there are other non disruptive methods of getting your message across. Like the ballot box."

Nothing is free.. maybe they should get their arses off the road and earn money to pay for their insulation rather than expect someone else to foot the bill. Previous government insulation schemes have often either been abused by cowboy providers or resulted in property damage. Many properties have been ruined by cavity wall fillings causing damp, others when fire risk cladding has been installed...
