"How the hell did Johnson and Raab think it'd be a good idea to go on their hols with what was brewing in Afghanistan? That's the PM and the foreign secretary both deciding it'd be the perfect time for a little R & R. " This is why they have deputies otherwise none of them would ever get any free time as there’s always something going wrong

"Top job = top responsibility. For Johnson and all his hand picked squad though it seems top job = skiving off and sloped shoulders. I wonder how many holidays Johnson's idol Winston Churchill had during WW2? Perhaps he was sunning himself on the beach at Brighton while the soldiers were on the beach at Dunkirk? After all, everybody needs a little time off, particularly when enemy troops are advancing and mass evacuations require planning..." Classic Whataboutery. Johnson (and this government) are complete morons, but have some perspective

Johnson (and this government) are complete morons, but have some perspective" What do you mean whataboutery? Whataboutery is when you try to distract from one fuck up by pointing at a different (and generally fictional) fuck up by someone else. My comment was totally about the OP and didn't attempt to distract by bringing up unrelated matters. Johnson is the PM, Raab is the foreign sec, both apparently had better things to be doing while the closest thing to a Dunkirk situation that might happen during our lifetimes is unfolding. It didn't happen in an instant, this withdrawal has been scheduled for months. Johnson and his minions were not forced into those jobs unwillingly, they schemed and backstabbed to get into top positions. Churchill on the other hand was more or less pushed into his position when Lord Halifax refused because he didn't want to take blame if the war went badly. Nevertheless, Churchill took on the burden, he made some good decisions and he made some bad decisions, he took responsibility and he didn't skive off or use it as a chance to make himself rich. The current lot are unlucky enough to have three concurrent crises to deal with - brexit (self inflicted), covid (made worse by initial denial) and now Afghanistan (plenty of time to see it coming but done fuck all and on holiday at the time). But they asked for the jobs, they actively prevented anybody better suited (ie. everybody) from having the jobs, now they only want the benefits and will not put in the sheer graft and take the responsibility that comes with those top jobs. Having perspective is to be looking at the situation honestly and neither inflating nor understating the position. The true perspective is that the UK is up to it's eyeballs in shit and the people that have lied and cheated their way to being in charge are the least capable that have ever held those positions.

"Beyond an embarrassment for the UK. Shameless, unforgivable dereliction of duty, which is going to be of little comfort to the all the innocent people who the Taliban will hunt down and murder. And yet, stupid fuckers will continue to vote Tory cos you know, immigrants .... This exactly. Oh and of course benefits scroungers, cos we can pay lips service to the welfare state but when it comes to actually helping folk that need a bit of support… "

"Raab's twitter is now hilarious. He keeps posting tweets about ringing and talking to people. And everybody replies telling him to resign. He's desperately trying to save his job." Yeah im sure a phone call from him would have made all the difference to a government that was at the airport and fucking off out of it.

Raab is an absolute arsehole, away on holiday while the dhit unfolded, and his twitter shite and releading a pic of him on the phone just shows what a wanker he is, but i agree, the afghan govt were pissing off out the country with wads of dollars in their pockets
