"Heard this while on a road-trip. The contributors were brilliant - I made a mental note to follow up by getting both books. People from all walks of life could really benefit from hearing this - perhaps this forum would be so much better, too. " If only Hopefully people will take a little time to listen and perhaps that's how it will work out

"I listened to it. It was interesting. I was surprised by how many seem to have an inbuilt authoritarian need/impulse." There is a good reason for it. Society needs people to keep home safe and life steady. The most authoritarian tendency is an extreme of that. I guess slightly more people have to be open to change for discovery and development to happen. The extreme of that is anarchy. Moat people are a mix. Either group having too much power causes problems I guess. Comfortable existence probably tends to more adventurousness and hard times to more authoritarianism.

"I noticed she was trying very hard not to say what stupid people gravitate more towards. (Or, at least, she was trying not to call them stupid.)" That is a generalisation though. There are clever homebodies and stupid adventurers. There probably used to be fewer stupid adventurers than there are now because the penalty to failure is much lower these days. Perhaps that's why there is some shift towards people feeling that there's too much change?

Back in the Stone Age, there was likely a bloke tutting over pointier rocks." ...but less liky to be pounced on by the lion rustling the leaves because he didn't leave the village much.
