"The party for the workers are now asking their own staff to take voluntary redundancy you couldnt make it up. " Maybe the union's will get involved to stop or water it down. If they asking for volunteers now it may lead to compulsory redundancies if they don't get enough volunteers. That would be a twist of fate

Asked about the situation, Ms Rayner said: “We are in the devastating circumstances where we have lost general elections and we have lost resources as a result of that, and our organisation has to change."

Sounds like that very thing Labour were admonishing others for very recently - fire and rehire is the term??? "I can't see them doing a fire and 're hire after ever thing they have said. It would loose them any credibility left. The big companies especially will watch closely taking notes for next time they need to scale back and get so called advice from Labour/ unions" The problem with that approach is that if they have no money, 'literally' and they have to fire and when they get money again they will need to 'hire' - If they don't 'rehire' those they let go to redundancy, that's almost the same sticky situation. Not a very good position to be in from either direction.

I think when they do eventually 're hire it will have to be on at least the same pay and conditions (allowing for inflation of course) as the redundant jobs. If not it will look like they are doing what they accuse struggling businesses of doing
