Will it be Freedom Day - or Fuck The Vulnerable Day?

And, given that the last time restrictions were relaxed in any meaningful way, the filthy cesspool of mainly Tory voters that is Kent, gave the world an even deadlier variant of Covid; can we expect more of the same, from our friends down south?

The entire scientific community are saying it is reckless.

My guess is we will be back in lockdown by the autumn and it will be our fault.

"Ffs it’s here fore ever so should we lockdown forever ?if ppl are scared stay in or wear a mask it’s your choice "

You seem to be in ignorance of a few facts: over 50% of the population are not doubly vaxxed and are therefore still vulnerable. By letting levels rise, we increase the chances of creating a vax resistant strain, and setting the world back two years or so, hospitals (already suffering from a decade of underfunding and now shutting down normal services) are forecast to be busier with COVID going into winter this year than last.. and much more. Just do some reading. Start with https://twitter.com/caz_sampson/status/1415723730882412550

Wearing a mask protects others from your germs, not the other way round, so if you don't wear a mask you put others at risk

Whatever happens now, happens. The cogs were set in motion ages ago and the decisions were made months ago.

As a nation we can only go in the direction which has been given. If the decisions are good they are good, if they are bad then they are bad.

Only after can we make that judgement, but we will still argue if it was good or bad.

It is what it is.

"July 19th will be Freedom Day... for the virus."

But, in a coincidence of almost perfect irony, it won't be Freedom Day for the Prime Minister, The Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Secretary of State for Health (in England); and, who knows, perhaps some of their Cabinet colleagues.

God / The Universe / Karma / Fate is trying to tell these dickheads something.

They won't listen - any more than they do to the scientists.

Just to correct the above statement.

Around 88% of adults have had a first dose and around 68% have had both, according to the latest figures.

The vaccine does not stop you catching it,it just decreases your chance of hospitalisation and death. It will never be eradicated its here to stay what do you you suggest we do? the lockdown and restrictions was to stop the hospitals getting over run vaccination is achieving that people cant hide forever.

"Plus, it's got the potential of giving you permanent organ damage, and vaccines don't have a 100% guarantee

So what is your suggestion for the next 5 to 10 years?"

from Googling:

many international scientists are warning that the UK government is effectively embarking on a dangerous experiment and amid some of the most confusing and chaotic public health messaging of the entire pandemic.

What we do is what Chris Whittey says:

he chief medical officer, Chris Whitty, has warned that with the number of hospital admissions doubling every three weeks, the UK could find itself reimposing social restrictions in a matter of weeks. Countries that have relaxed restrictions, such as the Netherlands and Israel, have ended up reimposing them.
