The news that 7 years of talks between the EU and Switzerland, have totally broken down, may come as a surprise to many. The Swiss have walked away and put a few existing Treaties in doubt. One of most important ones, is the flow of medical supplies between the two parties.

The EC is still making noises about taking Astra Zeneca to court over vaccine supplies. They are now talking about suing AZ for €10 per day for every vaccine not delivered!

These are vaccines that are not entirely needed by the Bloc, and certainly not liked by some member countries.

Bear in mind that AZ produced this vaccine on a "cost" basis, the EU barely funded its development, and the EU contract is not as legally watertight as some.

Other Companies will look on with interest, as threats of legal action will hardly give impetus for inward investment.

The "belt and road" scheme, where Chinese investment in infrastructure projects, especially in Eastern and Balkan states, is going to cause future problems. Huge loans are coming due for payment, and these are bound to be defaulted on. Where does the EU go with this, as relations between Brussels and Beijing are now frosty?

Swiss made medical equipment is no longer allowed to be sold in the EU, a result of the breakdown.

Looks like the EU wanted them to be a member state in everyway bar them actually asking to join officially.

Typical EU attitude it seems, trying to align and force them to join, says it all really, glad we are shot of that bunch.

And this is why I love being part of EU. They negotiate best deals for EU members, not for the other side. And they dont take shit from anyone. Dont worry brexiteers, you are just on the other side of the stick
