The Covid Passport Is Here

North West

I just went on to the NHS App on my phone and there it is, my Covid vaccination record.

Fair play to the Govt for making sure this update to the NHS App was installed as per the date that they said it would be,

Now we have the objectors screaming about an invasion of privacy and the inevitability of U.K. businesses starting to use it and thereby start to “discriminate.”

Personally I say well done to the Govt for this and let’s start to use it.

The test was scheduled to start today. And it did.

For others, if you can't get access to your record you need to ask your GP surgery - usually in person to connect you.

Just checked mine and it's been updated with my first vaccine.

This will do very well for anyone wanting/needing to travel should it come to that.

Hats off

Nothing has changed here. I could access my data 18months ago. The Covid info' is just another part of it.

If you are a person the government wants to keep tabs on, they already do. Now they just know you’re vaccinated. Never worry about the big brother thing really.

You may still be required to show other proof like a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, and you may still have to isolate on arrival. You will only be asked to prove your vaccination status for international travel. You should not be asked to prove it for any other reason (for example by an employer or a venue).

It is great - it’s different, but it’s not back to normal just yet.

Took less than 12 hours here.

Also. You may need to get your GP to let you into their online connection with NHS. They may ask you to come sign a form.

I do but it required my ID for some of the other functionality.

All done now very quick and efficient.

Shows my vaccination history.

Are people genuinely happy with the principal of this COVID passport ?

There seems to be great excitement about it, which is puzzling me ...

I had to upload a photo of my face which the app checked against my passport/driving licence photo.

It doesn't bother me if it helps get back to normal. If the gov want to watch you they will anyway and do on a regular basis.

I’m not excited about it but I don’t have any objections to it. I can see how it can be used beneficially.

Sure. It’s not so much the idea of the government watching you, although I have to say there was considerable objection in these parts when the track and trace app was being rolled out - you remember all the “Cummings mates wants your data” slogans - it’s more the wider idea that we are possibly moving to a different society (I won’t call it normal) where the bouncer on the door of your local pub will be asking, “papers, please”

I understand your concerns as to where this may potentially lead but in this instance I wouldn’t have a problem showing my ‘papers’

This seems to be iOS only - last Android update was 6 May.

Not that I intend going anywhere anyway... Very much keeping head down until common sense breaks out.

So what about your fitbit app being linked to your insurance benefits app, starbucks app, cinema app.

But we don't like the nhs to send us information regarding covid
