"I am clutching at straws here but trying to look on the bright side of leaving the EU as technically, these jobs could be counted as exports. Nestlé to cut almost 600 jobs as it closes UK factory and moves some production to Europe. https://news.sky.com/story/nestl-to-cut-almost-600-jobs-as-it-closes-uk-factory-and-moves-some-production-to-europe-12289465 Unfortunately, those who lost their jobs will not think the same however, I did notice in other posts that there were plenty of businesses and even paper rounds starting up in the UK so not so bad then... "Definitely a shame but you have to look further into it it's owned by a american company so only interested in profit so if by moving production it can cut wages they will." It is a shame. Any job losses, whatever the reason behind them, impact peoples lives. Sad news whatever way you look at it - there are no winners here.

Depending on how the package is structured the first £30 ,000 of compensation is tax free . I am sure that some workers will be more than happy to be made redundant, bank some tax free cash , enjoy a break, re evaluate life and seek alternative work. I have been lucky enough to be made redundant twice in my life. On both occasions I banked a years salary, then invested it and simply sought alternative work . Companies constantly move production sites . What Nestle have done is nothing new .

It’s ok to be made redundant in a time if high unemployment?? Did you read that before posting it?

" I briefly saw the story of the job cuts and that they were going to concentrate production at their other UK plants but did not see it mention moving it to the EU. As I say only briefly seen it
