The next time someone says to you, it's the computers fault . . .

They should receive every single penny that they have lost over the years. So many things that can't ever be replaced.

It was a terrible miscarriage of justice, those poor people have been through hell

I know of two people in two local post offices that were accused of stealing, both lost their licences and livelihood. One po has now been knocked down, the other is now a village shop only and residents have had to travel to the nearest town for many years. Reputation will be very difficult to have back even if monetary value can be.

A black stain on many lives that will probably never be removed, despite the findings. The death of many local and rural post offices that has affected many lives that can never be returned.

Probably absolutely fuck all, see banking scandal, financial crash, insider trading and now ppe contracts.

one wonders why they remained quiet ? cheap easy painless way to get rid off and shut down lots of small post offices with little or no protest from the general public due to the stigma of them being associated with theft and fruad

This happened at my local independent post office. Rumours flying around the community as to how the couple stole money from the Post office which forced it to close.

I always thought it as strange that a couple of years after the lady went to work at the main post office and the husband became a postman.

the post office top management should now be prosecuted for false accounting withholding evidence fraud etc. my local post office recently closed as they could not find a postmaster to take it on , who in their right mind would work for the post office?

The former top dogs at both the Post Office and the Horizon system, Fujitsu UK, should get a taste of their own medicine; and the 700+ postmasters and their families and employees should be compensated.

But what about those families of postmasters and postmistresses who committed suicide or died from the stress of being wrongly accused of theft or fraud?

The latter injustices can never be undone.

The former Chief Executive of the Post Office has stepped down from her role as a non executive director of Dunelm Ltd, and has stepped aside from her position as an Anglican priest.

Her next move should be to step into the Witness Box in a public enquiry and into the dock to answer for the misery she caused to so many innocent Postmasters, Postmistresses and their employees.

The injustice of several suicides that were caused by Fujitsu's Horizon computer system can never be undone!

The volume of lies told by prosecuters in various trials must be staggering. I used to think lying in court was a big deal. Apparently not.

The principal problems in this case were that the Post Office:

was able to legally conduct its own prosecutions, rather than these being handled by the PPS (Public Prosecution Service).

did not disclose the fact that there was probative evidence that Fujitsu's Horizon system had inherent accounting flaws.

Fujitsu's employees were able to enter the accounts of individual post offices and alter figures, without the knowledge of the Postmasters or Postmistresses.

There was no external oversight of the prosecutorial history and procedures to join the dots, and address the bizarre situation that there were over 750 identical cases of alleged false accounting an theft

People have committed suicide, lives have been ruined, marriages destroyed, homes repossessed, etc. The final financial cost will be close to £2bn. That is, £2,000,000,000.

The post Office can no longer conduct its own prosecutions, mercifully.

But the Post Offices's directors and senior managers who authorised and pursued the prosecutions should be pursued for negligent mismanagement of the largest organisational injustice in history.
