Didn't he actually draw up the rules?

It used to be called the old boys network and was an acknowledged fact of life. I lost all faith quite a while ago and think it just shows what a dreadful bunch they all are? Just watch Yes Minister? That summed up what a shambles it was over 30 years before it became apparent in real time.( sad times all round really?)

This case epitomises why former cabinet ministers are so much in demand as lobbyists and non-executive directors of corporations.

Power influence and connections!

If the company had not collapsed, we would be none the wiser.

Politics is a dirty business for sure.

It’s about a month ago that Cameron was suggesting that he would reenter active politics.

Had he kept a low profile he’d have been allowed to keep doing his shady deals now he’s a threat someone makes a call to the Times.

Perhaps the Beast of Bolsover was right all along?

Just another example of why parliament needs reforming. It’s dirty through and through.

Boris until he became a minister was on the payroll of JCB. Cant see engineer in his qualifications!.

The review made in 2009 has not been acted on. It’s really good reading and you can see why the greedy bastards don’t want reform!

Tony Benn did say that when he became a minister for the first time it was really like Yes Minister and the civil service will control any minister they can

Sound bite nonsense, plenty of honest upright people who want to make a difference they often go unnoticed among those with their snouts in the trough, to be fair it's not only politicians, plenty of "normal" folk have their snouts in the trough too.

The tories promote the ideology of profiteering over others. Yes there's dodgy politicians in other parties but mainly in the tories greed culture

Of course it helps if you are born into a better off family and making the first few thousands is the hard part, but every system of government is the same in that regard, some are destined to lead some to follow, and being rich doesnt mean you are happy or satisfied with your life, the old saying money doesnt make you happy is very true, nor does being jealous and envious of those better off.

To a point, there is nothing natural about being so selfish that your sat on piles of money much more than you will ever need whilst others struggle to put food on their table..

Not saying it's going to change as it's one of the species ingrained traits in some albeit a pretty awful one..

It's how they go about it. This incident and the other one where matt Hancocks old pub landlord gets a contract through the chums network, involving tax payers money rather than transparent and open tendering isn't really good either.

Some of us will get angry about this, others will defend the government no matter what they say or do. At the end of the day if you fuck up you own it and resign. If you want to be corrupt be better at it. If you get found out it should have consequences, including jail time.

the seems new discovories of tory sleaze and outright corruption is growing today. the results of the laws passed by ca-moron that benefited the tory corruption culture in westminster while he was PM are now exposed.

Newry Down

Bearing in mind the close symbiotic relationship between legal entities (profit-oriented organisations, charities and non-governmental organisations) it is inevitable that leading politicians and senior civil servants are in such demand just after they have left office, when their connections and knowledge of decision making processed is at its peak.

Astute head-hunters will be laying the groundwork for an 'acquisition' long before the intended departure date.

David Cameron, a former British Prime Minister with blue chip connections stretching back to his schooldays would have had a string of offers from non-executive directorships and consultancy roles from which to choose.

Unfortunately he chose to take up Greensil's offer, which may lead to his undoing; there are currently eight inquiries into this organisation.

However, when the hoo-hah settles, other offers will be readily available, from which to take his pick.

Whilst in office PMs and Presidents are poorly remunerated; the real gravy train commences when they re-enter 'civilian' life!
