"Europe Why has Europe obsessed so many people in this country for so many years? The post-war suspicion of Germany and anti-Marshall Plan spending led to anti-EEC sentiment in the 1970’s, followed by Euroscepticism for another forty years and culminated in an ideologically driven Brexit campaign? So that should be it right? The boil has been lanced and we can finally move on? No fucking chance... The fetish obsession of being “better’” than them continues with a vengeance and no doubt the next flagshagging chant is already made... “Two World Wars, One World Cup and we killed the virus - doh dah” What is wrong with us?... "Plenty are out there on a daily basis telling us how terrible we are being and this in turn is causing tit for tat exchanges between factions - of cause petty childish name calling, for example “flag shaggers” will almost certainly fuel such things.gone are the days of discussing things online without names like remainers brexiteers etc. It’s all about the factions now you’re either one of us or you’re wrong." This country will take decades to recover from that, Brexit has caused a huge divide that both sides are to blame for

"I totally agree that the country will take decades to recover from this move to factions, but it’s bigger than the uk , it’s a world wide problem and again brexit only made use of it, the real culprit are Facebook and Twitter, that is where these factions thrive." The factions have always been there, Brexit has made them worse. I really don’t think it is necessary to keep telling everyone how ‘great we are ‘ ‘how rubbish the EU is’ etc etc, it is a sign of insecurity

To say Euroscepticism was mainly about suspicions concerning Germany is outrageous, a lot of healthy Euroscepticism came about quite logically because of De Gaulle's decade long refusal of British membership.

Nothing the French think they are better than us as do the Germans etc it is normal to be proud of your country.Sadly there are a few that do not seem to share this,I do not understand.Being proud if your country is important and not being is something to be ashamed off. Hence the america first policy. No one wants to believe they a threat. So why should we spend anymore of taxpayer money on global defense. It can better be spent on programs here. Make up your minds. This "nuthouse" is the only counter to that threat.

All bluster and distraction while Trump lined his own pockets and gave himself tax breaks. Same with the Tories. Plenty of them made 100s of millions from brexit, while they genuinely didn't give a shit about the consequences for ordinary people. When Trump was elected it was "Americas brexit", a self inflicted national wound.
