Over 60 arrests made today.

What happened to 'we should be allowed to protest and the police should be soft on them'?

What a difference a week makes

I think they were told not to engage because the actions of the people there have now justified the new bill about protest

Smashing things up when they did not get a reation from the police says it all.

Daubing slogans all over the place they must be so very proud

I think people can see with their own eyes what happened last night and make their own minds up without the media saying a word.

I mean all of them. Suddenly police brutality isn’t an issue. The loudest voices here last week are noticeably quieter.

I think my meaning has gone over your head so I wasn’t clear.

What I mean is last week the usual suspects here were up in arms about the Met being heavy handed for robustly policing an illegal protest. Today, when it’s a cause that they don’t care about, there’s not been a mention anywhere of the police being OTT.

Who said the Police were OTT? It should have been a peaceful protest and those that broke the Law should be prosecuted - end of.

Read the posts about the Sarah everard protests last week. Take your pick. Plenty of people outraged at the police response.

I wonder if this can be classed as a riot. I read on the other thread about the other protests that it did not quite qualify lol.

They won’t call it a riot. Legal ramifications of declaring a riot are massive and it means police have lost control, therefore any damage is paid for out of the policing budget. Even 2012 was mostly classed as violent disorder rather than riot.

The other day it was claimed to be 12 people or more damaging things and violence. Seems the goal posts change rapidly. Whatever they call it those responsible for it are mindless morons

Yeah the legal definition is 12 or more engaged in a violent disorder is a riot. But for monetary reasons they won’t call it a riot. The chief constable of the force where it happens then takes responsibility for losing control. It’s just police politics

Who or what may be described "corrupted globalists"........?

Could the term perhaps refer to a person or persons that, previously, may have been thought of as being "globalist(s)" but for whatever cause or reasons, have been corrupted and now are something else other than "globalists"....?

Sort of..... "Crazzy-Globalists, Depraved Globalists, Über-bad-Globalists..."??

Or, may it be the name chosen by some pretentious, modern day electro-synth-drum-&-bass beat combo.........??

I well remember a similar incident back in the eighties, when we heard that some kind of "new order" was afoot.....

To our great relief it turned out to be merely the chosen name of a pretentious, modern (back then...!) electro-analogue synth-drum-&-bass beat combo which did shamelessly corrupt the then top twenty pop-charts with a grim 'song' entitled 'Blue Monday'............

Well, can you imagine the relief felt by all upon the realisation of the meaning...... not to mention the amusement.....(!?!)

I am fine with protests, although I do think in the middle of a pandemic its stupid and is a big two fingers to all the NHS staff who are still risking there lives to help us, but I am sorry cant say I agree with setting police vehicles on fire and stamping on police officers, thats not protesting and those responsible should feel the full force of the law.
