More good news. "

There are two sides to this story (well three actually).

1) Taken at face value, this has to be good news for the City as it infers confidence in London as a financial centre.

2) There was a fear that the U.K. would make a post -Brexit dash to be Singapore on Europe’s doorstep. Is this an indication of that or just a positive outcome as per (1).

3) There definitely was a fear that post-Brexit Britain would see an even bigger reduction in the quality of jobs in this country and a huge expansion of the gig economy. This news suggests that this is now more likely, than unlikely.

"Supreme Court’s Uber Ruling on Workers’ Rights Could Have Huge Ramifications for Food Delivery

It enshrines the rights of Uber drivers as workers, something riders for the likes of Deliveroo have struggled to attain in the past"

So in the longer term perhaps not.

Will we all be aspiring to be Deliveroo riders? What will the remuneration package be like do you think?

Every Deliveroo worker will get a payout on flotation, upto £10K for the longest serving.

Its noticeable that their big rivals, Just Eat, are moving their employees onto hourly paid and I expect Deliveroo to follow suit (they have set aside £122 million for claims on this)

With Amazon holding a 16% stake in Deliveroo, this listing is expected to raise £7 billion and to be massively oversubscribed.

In further good news for Brexit...

“About €100 billion of Irish securities moved from London to Brussels over the weekend as UK and EU markets deepen their split following Britain’s departure from the single market.

Holdings for 50 companies listed on the Irish stock exchange moved from the securities depository of the London operation of Euroclear, one of the world’s largest settlement houses, to its Belgium-based unit.”

It was so helpful the Government remembering to sort the fish out and totally forgetting financial services. Oh, I’m sorry, did I say they’d sorted fish out - my mistake, I must have believed the lies

Great news. I see this too on the BBC I think. Apparently they can change a few things to make London more attractive place to trade and have started. The old news of some going from London to Europe is exactly that, old news and has to happen due to EU rules not what the companies choose

My post above is so old that your milk is still in date! Losing access to European Financial Markets and Euro Clearing matters a lot. But then so do Fishermens jobs and livelihoods & that has gone well.
