Good thread.

I'll start with sport. Anderlecht, based in Brussels won the UEFA cup in 1983.

Big achievement for a relatively small football club.

Brussels held the world fair in 1958. It was a great success by all accounts.

And the Atomium is a great architectural legacy.

Oh no no, if you want EU architectural legacies then you've got the Parliament debating chamber, that's nice.

Although it's having to be torn down and rebuilt, they got nearly thirty years of use out of it.

You said "EUROPEAN" not the EU.

I understand you might find it hard to tell the difference but, the exact same claim by you on this subject has been explained to you on a previous thread.

As is the thread is specifically about the eu ,I thought that would have been clear

Obviously not.

In fairness, there's nothing in the original post about the EU.

It's about celebrating the European city of Brussels.

Yep indeed

It's got gazillions of MEPs and staff living, eating and drinking there, so Brussels must have achieved a lot to justify all that

They have some amazing restaurants in Brussels, 5 two Michelin stars & 13 one Michelin stars. "

Well they have to justify their expenses so no surprise there.

How many wars have there been since the EU was founded?

Falklands War, Gulf Wars... Theres a few.

True, we’re they between EU nations?

Why are you mentioning the EU.

I'm pointing out Lionel's incorrect claim there have not been any conflicts in Europe.

Ok, i will make this claim, there have been no conflicts between EU nations, there has been several before the EU was formed "

Yep I accept that as it's correct.

As an architectural expert, I'm anxiously waiting to see the next Brussels building project, particularly the new billion Euro debating chamber, hope it lasts a bit longer this time.

We are helping to pay for it, 1 billion is nothing compared to what we still have to pay

Think you’ll find the NI troubles started before even the EEC.

Technically the balkans troubles were civil wars so not an international conflict.
