"Good grief is there no depths to which Brussels won’t stoop? Now they are wading into our marbles. Ridiculous, up yours Delors! “Politicians from 12 EU countries have called on Boris Johnson to return the Elgin Marbles to Greece as a sign of its intent to build a positive relationship with the EU27 after Brexit. In a letter to the Prime Minister, seen by i, 30 MEPs “respectfully” request the UK amend the law to allow the British Museum, where they presently reside, to return the marbles. The artefacts, taken from Athens’s Acropolis by Lord Elgin early in the 19th century when Greece was under Ottoman rule, have been the subject of a a long-running dispute over their residence in London since they were first put on permanent display in 1817.“" It looks like you lost your marbles long time ago. Will you also demand for them to be returned?

"We should refer to them as the Parthenon marbles so as not to glorify the vandal who stole them" Agree that is their proper name.

"There is no reason why they couldn’t be 3D laser scanned & printed, the originals could then be sent back, but then where will this stop, will everything be sent back to it place of origin, or just the things those countries want to claim back. It’s just we have shit loads of nuclear waste belonging to other countries & I wouldn’t mind sending that back too x" If you steal stuff, you give it back. It’s just civilised.

I’m not disputing that x but there’s been plenty of stuff stolen by different people over the millennia’s, where do we stop. With this it’s easy, like I say 3D scanned & printed, the originals sent back, there is no logical argument for them not to go back on permanent public display in Greece as they where before 1817. But that’s not so easy with other things x

In this instance, the stolen relief needs to be returned.

Evolution is the way in which living organisms adapt to exploit an environmental niche to prosper. It's nothing to do with empire building. As for the looking at the horizon bit You might want to look at the history of Spain, Portugal, Italy. So in a nutshell your post tries to link things that are not linked whilst demonstrating a fairly fundamental lack of historical knowledge." wrong wrong wrong lol stones, arrows swords guns... we had evolved to that point via iron age etc, a lot of europe is obviously loosely connected, so europe progressed around the same pace... while other nations still didnt know if the earth was round or flat, im not sure native americans even considered that fact in 1700? where as the europeans were already mapping the solar system.... this is evolution, evolution isnt just animals and plants lol .... i could go on but i wont, read a book lol

"british history mostly celebrates how the country stole things from other countries over the last 500 yearsyep and what a great past it is yes it is, while some nations were looking at the horizon we were building boats and sailing over it, discovering plants, remedies, mapping the world, building bridges...writing books... of course we could have just stayed on the shore, eating sand and living in caves but we didnt, that is called evolution lol Your post is, to say the least, bonkers why? please explain Ok When we were living in caves, eating "sand" well we weren't going out mapping the world ( that being said international connections were well established). Gunpowder came from China, the most advanced bows and arrows came from the far East. The earth was proved to be round by the ancient Greeks before Copernicus developed a model of the solar system, he was Polish. As I've just explained to you, evolution is about species. Frankly, you just don't know what you are posting about.

As you put it "Evolution (biology)" Thanks for proving yourself wrong. Again." So are you stating categorically that the earth has not evolved from its conception? That it’s exactly the same as when it first formed millions of years ago? No volcanic eruptions or earth quakes have had any effect on the planet? No meteor showers, or solar storms? The ice ages of the past didn’t have any effect on the evolution of the planet earth? Wow I really hope your teaching future generations about your new ideas about the evolution of the earth & solar system x Stephen Hawkins would be thinking he’d wasted his life if he was still alive, he could of just listened to you & saved his time x

The artefacts, taken from Athens’s Acropolis by Lord Elgin early in the 19th century when Greece was under Ottoman rule, have been the subject of a a long-running dispute over their residence in London since they were first put on permanent display in 1817.“" Errrrrmm they're not 'ours'. If my great-grandfather stole a item from your family and it was written in history that he took it, wouldn't you want them back? Problem with us Brits, we don't teach our real history.
