The good news is there are effectively two Empire days, yes, plus Waterloo Day 18th June when we thrashed Brussels

Brussels was Dutch and on our side. Plus it was the Germans who beat Napoleon at Waterloo. Yes Wellington was in charge of half of the allied forces, but the number of actual Brits (including Irish) was only 25k of the 100k. And it was the Prussian attack to the flank that stuffed Napoleon.

I dont remotely claim to be an English Nationalist, I'm known for my tolerance and moderation in all things.

A lot of IPA never originally went to India as it was so popular here, but eventually was a huge export success, just like the sort of Export successes that the New Empire will have free from Brussels.

Err!?! What? Brussels which just a regional city in the Netherlands at that time? The British Army didn’t show anybody how to do anything. It was a third of one force that held a defensive position for 6 hours until the Prussians arrived to rescue it.

Today is international women's day. In the politics forum it's just another opportunity for the in house supremacist troll to indulge themselves. Anyway I would like to pay tribute to the women, many from overseas that have worked at the frontlines dealing with Corona virus. It's heartbreaking to think that at the same time there are fools that believe they are superior by an accident of birth.

Chris will be gutted that commonwealth day has been overshadowed by international women’s day

Too woke for me and all right thinking people

Why is it too ‘woke’ ? Commonwealth day is irrelevant , international women’s day will be celebrated across the world and in schools.

Like to see you stood in front of the Queen telling her that

Are you saying the queen is a bigot or woke?

You don't even believe in the Commonwealth?

"

What kind of question is this?

I believe the commonwealth exists. What's that got to do with your vague accusations about the queen?

"Let's all put our differences aside and let's celebrate New Empire Day with Her Majesty today.

Hope you will all be raising an IPA to the Glory of our Britannic Nations during her speech

IPA? India Pale Ale? That’s not very English nationalist of you. Shouldn’t it be some local brewery Bitter?

I dont remotely claim to be an English Nationalist, I'm known for my tolerance and moderation in all things.

You crack on with Ethical Tibetan Bead Production day or whatever it is and the rest of us will crack on with celebrating this Sceptered Isle, this Seat of Mars. "

Actually it Commonwealth Day today.

The actual date for Empire Day is the 24th May.

The good news is there are effectively two Empire days, yes, plus Waterloo Day 18th June when we thrashed Brussels "

... The Battle of Waterloo was fought on Sunday, 18 June 1815, near Waterloo in Belgium, part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands at the time. A French army under the command of Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated by two of the armies of the Seventh Coalition, a British-led coalition consisting of units from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Hanover, Brunswick, and Nassau, under the command of the Duke of Wellington, referred to by many authors as the Anglo-allied army or Wellington's army, and a Prussian army under the command of Field Marshal von Blücher, referred to also as Blücher's army. The battle marked the end of the Napoleonic Wars.

In essence, this was a United Europe against the French

Another example of how we work better with our European Cousins rather than against them

English is a West Germanic language that originated from Anglo-Frisian dialects brought to Britain in the mid 5th to 7th centuries AD by Anglo-Saxon migrants from what is now northwest Germany, southern Denmark and the Netherlands. ... The Late West Saxon dialect eventually became dominant.

I said the language of Shakespeare, not of wood choppers

The language of Shakespeare originated in Germany and Denmark, you really need to do your research in future, it’s becoming embarrassing

I wonder did the OP study Bewoulf or is not British enough for them, given that's it old English. Perhaps The Canterbury Tales may also be suspect, given it was written in middle English.

The majority of Shakespeare’s plays were set in Italy, he wasn’t very ‘patriotic’

I can't argue with that level of nonsense lol"

Do some research, and get back to me

"Anyway, just for today, let's set aside our differences and celebrate New Empire Day together in a spirit if peace and goodwill.

For Harry and St. George

Three cheers for her Britannic Majesty

Hip hop hooray

Harry & George are only relevant to Englandshire .

What is Brittanic about Englandshire alone ?

Only that we are the beating heart of the New Empire, the language of Shakespeare given to our Gaelic and Celtic cousins, spread throughout the World.

Makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up doesn't it?

English is a West Germanic language that originated from Anglo-Frisian dialects brought to Britain in the mid 5th to 7th centuries AD by Anglo-Saxon migrants from what is now northwest Germany, southern Denmark and the Netherlands. ... The Late West Saxon dialect eventually became dominant.

Of his 38 plays only 11 we’re set in England, tbh only 10 were in Italy so I was incorrect but 27 were outside the UK

When you break that down

Harry - Plantagenet, so from Anjou, France

England - Angles, from Denmark/Holland

St George - Syrian, serving in the Roman empire

Brittania - about the only British thing in there

Poor 2/10
