"Support for independence has dropped below 50 per cent when don’t knows are included for the first time since December, with 47 per cent of Scots intending to vote Yes, 42 per cent voting No, and 10 per cent undecided.

Supporters of Scottish independence gather at the site of the battle of Bannockburn for an 'All Under One Banner' event.

With don’t knows excluded, support for independence in a second referendum sits at 53 per cent, with No backed by 47 per cent of Scots.

Divisions within the SNP may be partly to blame for the drop in support, with a significant change in the number of Scots who say the party is divided.

In February, 42 per cent of Scots said the SNP was united, a drop of eight points when compared with January and five points below December’s figures.

A total of 45 per cent also said the SNP was divided, up by six points when compared with January and eight points when compared to December."

All depends on how you word the question...

Not a surprise then the SNP proposed question is not worded in the same way as these polls.

quite fascinating when you look at the data

Another factor:

"Forty three percent of people believe the SNP have been in government for too long, compared to 41 percent who say they have not and 16 percent who don’t know."

Scots voted NO last time because England black-mailed them that they will be kicked out of EU and never allowed to join. And that scenario was pretty crap for Scotland to be honest. At least 10% stated that as a reason to vote against independence.

Scotland is like a woman in an unhappy marriage 50 years ago. Afraid to leave the bullying husband because he will make her life hell.

Do not imagine that 55% who voted NO in 2014 all love England. Quite a few were just scared about their future and what England might do against them.

If I was being really honest I would have to say I am struggling to care about Salmond and Sturgeon. Does sound a right mess though.

I await them being voted in again on a landslide.

I find it more strange that the disinformation being shared by newspapers and news programmes for quite a long time is in fever mode, leading to hyperbole by the populace is completely covering up the criminal behaviour by the Conservatives awarding their cronies huge sums of public money, which the populace will have to pay.

What will probably come from today will be Sturgeon held to have misled the SP, something that happens every day of the week in Westminster. Be very, very careful you are not being led by the anarchist policy makers of the Conservatives, for whom this is a major success of their plans.

For some reason the rhetoric has been amped up the last few months.Absolutely nothing to do with the fact that she stands upto that buffoon in no 10.

"Funny how the media are going after sturgeon and not the sex pest.

So if you believe some criminal activity has taken place then report it to the police and the guardian, I'm sure both will be happy to follow your evidence, when they have been convicted I hope they throw the book at them.

Judging by the evidence she offered today, and the way she defended her conduct, sturgeon will continue as first minister and lead her party into the forthcoming election,

Glasgow

She may well survive but she is wounded and now knows for sure that she has a sizeable amount of her party who are not loyal to her as leader anymore. So she has to either be brave and root them out or isloate them as best she can.

A case in point. I don’t know where you get your information from but it is flawed. I’d make a wild guess and suggest The Mail? And they are honest reporters of all truth, right? Do you not have even the slightest inkling you are being manipulated in your opinions?

"Scots voted NO last time because England black-mailed them that they will be kicked out of EU and never allowed to join.

What a load of crap it is true they cannot just go right back into Europe would take years. They cannot distribute a vaccine nevermind sort out letting a country in.It takes years to qualify for membership the SNP lie about this all the time"

Here lies the reason the Snp are popular...arrogant twat from ingerland spouting pish

moved to cuckold land

In 2014 if Scotland had become independent and applied to join the EU this would likely have been blocked .

As the UK was still a member they would have had a Veto on Scotland joining.

Therefore the UK leaving the EU actually gives and indepemdent Scot a greater chance of having any application to join accepted.

I will say that whilst I voted for the UK to remain As I have never had a say on an Independent Scotland joining the UK I would wish to vote in a referendum on this as I would wish to see what the terms were for joining ( which would likely be a lot worse than the terms the UK had with its right to Veto etc) before this proceeds

I watched the whole thing yesterday. For someone who couldn't wait to get in front of the committee she was very poor. Here memory was selective, too many answers saying "I wasn't there, I don't know, I will have to check, etc". She has waited so long to appear as she kept saying, but compared to Salmond her responses were poor and vague. Not the performance if a 'Leader'. I do not like either of them btw.

When she was asked the important questions especially by Jackie Baillie she came up well short. Even when the Deputy Convener asked her probing questions she was the same. When the Deputy Convener was nearly getting to the crux the SNP convener tried to shut her down like she tried to with Jackie Baillie too. If looks could kill some of the ones aimed at Baillie by Sturgeon would have turned her to stone. She definitely got under her skin. In my opinion she gave answers without answering the questions properly that all politicians are very adept of doing.
