so the uk may ban eu bottled water?

It seems lord frost is waiting for the trade deal to be ratified before imposing a ban on eu bottled water using the same argument as the eu for banning shellfish they cant be sure of the quality of water it came from.British drinking water is the safest in the world and 25% of bottled water comes from taps and may not be as clean which could easily be replaced by domestic products and have an environmental benefit too.

Why anyone wants to buy bottled water from France is beyond me. Hardly does anything for the climate either.

Because that’s mineral water, not just bottled water. It may be overpriced as it is sourced just from underground springs in the mountains but is definitely not the same as the tap water. It’s rich in minerals and beneficial for health and more important it has taste.

Have to agree with others. Something I have never done. Nothing wrong with water from the tap.

Bottled water, whether from the EU or elsewhere isn't very environmentally friendly anyway. Worse than a takeaway coffee.

We have gone to a filter tap chilled or sparking just made sense not even as much waste as the filters in a jug

Looks like the Germans are already one step ahead....

New bottling plant to be built in Derbyshire by German company MEG - subsidiary of Schwarz group - who own Lidl.

This investment by the company is the first production plant in the UK and will supply Lidl with MINERAL WATER and soft drinks for its supermarkets across the UK and Ireland.

£50m investment, hundreds of jobs ... and avoiding ban on imported bottled water

many liquids including wine are now shifted in tankers and then bottled, as its more cost effective, if youre selling enough.

still think buying water in bottles as a habit isnt a good one for planet, although i do when im in other countries!

Our water's quite hard and while I don't mind it, it's not all down to what I personally like so if others in the home prefer bottled then I'll buy bottled

Which bit of Preston are you from? For I know you are chatting a load of bottles about the quality of the water in Preston, having lived in & around Preston most of my life, & still work there, the water in Preston is not hard it is quite normal & doesn’t even need to be filtered. Unless yours getting it from the Ribble or a borehole x
