Ford has taken back full control of the transmission plant at Halewood in what is being described as a 'historic' move by the company.

Also described as a "huge show of confidence" in the UK automotive industry, and safeguarding up to 600 jobs.

Getrag is actually owned by Magna International, a Canadian multinational, which is responsible for much of the automotive production in Europe.

Maybe they are rationalising, but the fact that Ford want a transmission facility in the UK is positive news indeed.
