"In what has been described as "the complete breakdown of the necessary barriers which should exist between govt, political party and indeed the prosecution authorities in any country which abides by the rule of law", this is a huge political story currently unfolding north of the border. To be clear, this isn't a matter of referendum or independence, but fundamentally the shutting down of scrutiny in Scotland." It is certainly a very strange - but perhaps predictable - set of circumstances that the Scottish people find themselves in. There is a mass of happenstances yet to watch unfold lol.

"I really do not understand whats going on tbh but it seems strange that parliament can censor his statement how is that possible? " Stephen Daisley has written a piece which lays out what is going on in relation to the enquiry, the parliament, the crown office and the SNP. won't post a direct link but if you search authors name + "The Scottish establishment is playing into Salmond’s hands" .

Gawd - I read it and had to read it again just to get a sense of keeping up lol. This will fester for quite a long time - along with the fact the Nikky has been accused of "NICOLA STURGEON was accused of "bare-faced lies" as the SNP split over a second referendum on Scottish independence." She has much trouble-a-brewing.

"Can anyone sum up what’s meant to have happened and what’s currently happening in a paragraph? Looks interesting. " Despite some commentators wishing to brush over the fundamental points of the unfolding story, the piece I mention in an early post is worth a read. I would not be surprised to hear cries of "biased", however you do not need to go very far to find an ever growing number of commentaries and articles which affirm and validate the growing concerns of what is actually unfolding in Scotland at the moment. In summary, Sturgeon says "show me proof", Salmond says "ok, here it is". Sturgeon has the proof redacted. Nobody can ask her about the proof. Look there's no proof!

"Salmond was found not guilty after testimony from a number of women accusing him of sexual abuse and wants to name those women and discuss their testimony as well accuse FM’s husband and discredit Sturgeon. The Crown Office deemed that unlawful and redacted a portion it had published and now he says he won’t appear until all the accusations are published, so he may refer to them. The accusations have been described as having ‘not a shred of truth’ in them. " So these accusations cant be proved to have any credibility or not because the lord advocate who also happens to be the chief legal officer of wee nicola says they are not admissible.

".In summary, Sturgeon says "show me proof", Salmond says "ok, here it is". Sturgeon has the proof redacted. Nobody can ask her about the proof. Look there's no proof!" Actually, that isn’t true. It’s the Crown Office who has redacted parts of Salmond’s accusations to protect the identities of the women who accused him of sexual abuse. It’s not something the FM or any SP member can do.

Seriously ... Lets see what the Scottish government appointed Lord Advocate, Head of the Crown Office James Wolffe has to say about "What new information or intervention led to such a dramatic expansion of the material which the Parliament has been required to redact?"

"Alex Salmond wants the whole lot brought out into tbe open. Needless to say, Nicola Sturgeon isn't that keen. Whilst Nicola Sturgeon may well escape from this, its her husband that looks like being under some pressure. " Actually, Sturgeon is on record as saying she wants and looks forward to being able to refute all of this. She has vehemently denied all of it. It serves her no purpose to delay anything right now

"And.... one doesn’t have to wait for details of the redacted information- it already has been printed in full. The redacted elements are the names of his accusers, women who were brave enough to come forward to the police and stood in court testifying, in the belief that they were under protection of the law and what they’d said and their names, would not be published nor used for their vilification by the defendant in what looks very much like a vendetta. THAT’S why the Crown Office redacted information." They also redacted the bit about wee nicola knowing about the accusations and the time line.

"Who’s quote is that? Salmond’s? The Lord Advocate may be appointed by the Scottish Parliament- note NOT by the SNP- but the Office is a legal one, not a political one. Separated from government and not controlled by government. Don’t be pulled into quoting misinformation from poor sources. Just wait for the thing to unravel, one way or another. " Lord Advocate = Chief Legal Officer of the Scottish Government and Head of the Crown Office . Appointed by the First Minister

Lady Dorrians ruling is quite clear, and paved the way for the testimony to published, which in turn lead to the Parliament Corporate Body changing their ruling that the testimony could not be published After being published on scot.gov it was quickly removed by the Crown office on the advice of the Lord Advocate. The redacted parts have nothing whatsoever to do with the identification of the accusers.

"Why has it been possible for The Spectator to publish in the public domain the Salmond evidence, without paragraphs 12,13, 16,17 and 30 being totally redacted?" Spectator is published in England, therefore a different legal jurisdiction. It can happen otherway around. There's been cases where celebrities have injunction and not published South but named in Scotland

"Followers of the story, or anyone interested, can watch Salmond being questioned by the Holyrood Committee on the Scottish Government Handling of Harassment Complaints today at 12.30 - scottishparliament.tv " A powerful opening statement from Salmond. I've said it before, in these forums, that if Sturgeon has misled our Parliament, she will have to resign. Not to do so would make her no better than the Tory hypocrites that currently run the UK government. It's been interesting to see how the usual suspects in here seem to have very much changed their tune on Alex's credibility, now that he's attacking the government he used to lead. Not so long ago, they were condemning him as a sex pest, prior to his acquittal. Before that, he was a Kremlin stooge, when he was on Russia Today. Before that, a madman set on breaking up the UK (he's not changed his mind on independence for Scotland, btw - he's just said so). Yet now, they claim he's definitely telling the truth and there is no doubting his credibility? Maybe he is. Or maybe he's having a tantrum because he can't bear the thought of anyone else but him leading Scotland to independence, after all that hard work he put in? Either way, we'll find out soon enough. If our institutions need sorting out - and, frankly, I think they do - then we'll sort them and move on. It's also interesting that the one thing all the Unionists and Sturgeon haters can't seem to grasp is that this entire affair will have no effect on the Scots who want independence. When it's all over, we're still going to vote SNP because they are the only Party in the UK offering us any prospect at all of escape from the rule of the likes of Boris (100,000+ unnecessary deaths and counting) and his kind. If the SNP stables need cleaned out - and they clearly do - great; get it done. I'm all for having politicians who aren't corrupt and incompetent. Which is more than can be said for your average Tory voter. LOL

This is about establishing wether a government hid evidence, lied to the people and senior members of the government colluded to plot against their former leader. Whatever the truth it needs to be established before the country can move forward. This is the furthest thing you could possibly get from a non-story the only ones who hid evidence and encouraged women to make statements were the tory backed Scottish office lesley evans and Margaret mckinnon going to womens houses and begging them to make complaints against Alex salmond, those women were used by the scottish office just to smear him luckily all woman were not believed by a mostly women jury But Alex isn't blaming them, why? He's blaming nic Have you watched it all ? have you? pls tell me when in his evidence he soley blames the first minister?" you didnt answer? just added another question! however...i never said he did, im not going through it line by line! but its clear she has gone from friend to enemy, why? in fact dont bother answering, lets wait until the end of the inquiry as your personal bias isnt really important to anyone but you!

Salmond has already won against her, you should be asking why she's keeping her job for another 2 years? Maybe she knows too much?
