good or bad? the tory party said bad for decades. now disgraced mp robert jenrick says good. hosting cop26 while digging deep navigation colieries and constructing huge gas power stations appears hugely hypocritical and many nations are already questioning britains commitment to divestment from fossil fuels. if coal and gas have little future in the modern world, why are the tory party wasting liberal amounts of other peoples money on projects such as these?

There are several projects ongoing accross the UK to decomission the old coal power stations.

Bio-gas or CNG are in favour now as its cleaner.

Windfarms like Triton Knoll are already in use offshore around the country.

Fracking would be viable, however there is already a large opposition to this in the UK.

Hopefully good news for the British steel industry too. When we started to import the majority of raw materials is when the steel industry became unviable.

All gases contain carbon except hydrogen ,so no gain burning gas ,just a bit cleaner and easier to transpot than coal

Be interesting to see if this gets the go ahead.

There are still extensive coal seams around the UK however from an enviromental point, underground mining will be the only solution.

For me I can't see it going ahead, but thats only my personal opinion.

400 qualified deep navigation pocket colliers living locally from within a 20 mile radius, half of which area is out to sea. i find that hard to believe quite frankly.

Cumbria County Council will now have to decide on this project. That Council is hung, so no one party can decide.

The Lib Dems have the numbers to drive this either way, assuming Labour and the Conservatives take opposing positions.

The mine will be built on the site of a derelict coal mine, will be powered by renewables, and the coal will be converor belted to a loading point on the railway line.

Should the project not go ahead, then our steel manufacturers will still be importing coking coal from Australia for the next decade at least.

i can't see port talbot existing as a furnace works for much longer now that the conservative and unionist governments bluff has been called since brexit over the matter of the EU being the only thing stopping investment from state aid. if this happens then the colliery will be a visible white elephant rather than the white elephant that the government have attempted to partially camouflage.
