"Heard an interesting interview with Gove being repeatedly asked why England was so far behind Scotland in elderly vaccinations- all he could say was to repeat that mantra you’ve quoted. It takes much longer to go to care homes or elderly in the community to vaccinate than to line younger, healthy and not so at risk people up in thousands. It’s a matter of priority and in nobody’s interest to delay vaccines. Believe Scotland is galloping along now so that’s good. " A week ago, the Daily Mail and other media outlets were bashing Scotland's "appalling" rollout. Thu 4th Feb England - 16.06% Scotland - 12.71% What a difference week makes. Thu 11th Feb England - 20.29% Scotland - 19.20% Today, the 7 day average per 100k Population figures are: England - 608 Scotland - 938 How I'd love to have a chat with Gove about this right now.

"What a difference a week makes ... pity they had to be shamed into pulling their finger out. Well done Scotland, now only 2 days behind " At the current rate, Scotland will have a higher percentage vaccinated by early next week. I don't believe that they could have turned this around so quick from when the criticism was made. It's comical to suggest that they suddenly sent out a load of letters with appointments and got everything else in place.

"why is englands vaccine roll out so very far behind wales?" In terms of what? In terms of percentages England is about 1% behind Wales but in terms of actual vaccinations, it’s about 11 million ahead. The vast difference in population size makes it very difficult to compare each country and that’s before you factor in numbers of people who are eligible for the vaccination but have declined for whatever reason.

"perhaps johnson should accept drakefords offer of help to turn around englands languishing innoculation programme." I witnessed England’s inoculation programme first hand yesterday, it’s anything but languishing!

"england is behind wales by a large margin. the virtue signalling to the scots by the english unionist nationalists appears monumentally misplaced and based on fantasy. perhaps england should improve it's clearly failing situation before throwing stones in a glass house." By what margin?

"england is behind wales by a large margin. the virtue signalling to the scots by the english unionist nationalists appears monumentally misplaced and based on fantasy. perhaps england should improve it's clearly failing situation before throwing stones in a glass house." Whats the margin? You can express it as an actual number or as a percentage.

"According to the bbc wales is at 21.7% England 20.3% The Scots 19.2% and n Ireland 18.7% So everyone is doing ok? That's surely good isn't it?" Of course The more people that get vaccinated the better.

I’m in Group 5 and had my vaccination yesterday. Seems Wales has some catching up to do! And before anyone responds, I know this is bollox, as is the post I’m responding to.

"According to the bbc wales is at 21.7% England 20.3% The Scots 19.2% and n Ireland 18.7% " Latest figures this evening... Wales 22.71% England 20.98% Scotland 20.38% NI 19.72% If Scotland and england both rise by the same percentages tomorrow then england will be on 21.7% and Scotland will be on 21.6%. Takeover day will be sunday Of course, it's not a race but the media was critical of Scotland. The important thing though, as the UK, we are actually doing well for once. Credit to a bit of luck securing the right vaccine (Pfizer) , developing the Oxford AZ and a well organised NHS.

You do realise the media were all over Scotland because they were massively behind target, by about 10 days . Whatever has gone on, it’s fixed now, and the whole of the U.K. will reach the target on time as planned Next target I believe is the remaining 5 cohorts by May.

In the event of independence would you take both passports, or opt for the Scottish one only ?
