it would be good if she could get the 1st dose out, but saying that they did have a record day today although still has the lowest percentage of adults vaccinated in the uk.

Heard an interesting interview with Gove being repeatedly asked why England was so far behind Scotland in elderly vaccinations- all he could say was to repeat that mantra you’ve quoted.

It takes much longer to go to care homes or elderly in the community to vaccinate than to line younger, healthy and not so at risk people up in thousands.

It’s a matter of priority and in nobody’s interest to delay vaccines. Believe Scotland is galloping along now so that’s good.

A week ago, the Daily Mail and other media outlets were bashing Scotland's "appalling" rollout.

Rubbish. Vaccinating care homes would always take longer. Better that way and protect the vulnerable than leave them to die and reap their pension pots...

At the current rate, Scotland will have a higher percentage vaccinated by early next week.

I don't believe that they could have turned this around so quick from when the criticism was made. It's comical to suggest that they suddenly sent out a load of letters with appointments and got everything else in place.

I'm sure the 2 days will be caught up.

The impact of the emergency support provided by the military is very noticeable in the roll out chart - Scotlands line was going downwards and then a few days after the military step in, the line starts climbing.

All is good now and the planned target should be achieved across all of the UK.

In terms of what?

In terms of percentages England is about 1% behind Wales but in terms of actual vaccinations, it’s about 11 million ahead.

The vast difference in population size makes it very difficult to compare each country and that’s before you factor in numbers of people who are eligible for the vaccination but have declined for whatever reason.

Both England and Wales above the line and should achieve the 15th Feb target.

Scotland and Northern Ireland about 1-2 days behind the line, but expected to also achieve the target.

If Scotland and england both rise by the same percentages tomorrow then england will be on 21.7% and Scotland will be on 21.6%.

Takeover day will be sunday

Of course, it's not a race but the media was critical of Scotland. The important thing though, as the UK, we are actually doing well for once. Credit to a bit of luck securing the right vaccine (Pfizer) , developing the Oxford AZ and a well organised NHS.
