" Why would we look towards a “Singapore style” low tax, low regulation economy. We can cut red tape without reference to a country with appalling poverty even whilst they can claim to be the 8 richest country in the world. Do you see beyond a political sound bite? Boris and co will be well retired when the fruits of this plan are harvested. This isn’t party political this is striking at the very fabric of the society we want and just taking shots at me in your usual bitter way isn’t debating or discussing and therefore pointless. Do you never ask why? Try taking that bias chip off your shoulder and think it through. Can you answer the question. Why not the Irish tax haven model? Why just Singapore? Ireland is the 7th richest country in the world by GDP so seems reasonable to emulate using our tax avoidance regime in London.

It also attracts people from poorer nations looking for "a better life" always gonna be poverty in or out of the Eu. It also attracts people from poorer nations looking for "a better life" always gonna be poverty in or out of the Eu. Many pensioners in EU countries live on £4 per day and the EU are doing nothing about it." Just five years ago I stayed in top end hotels in Romania for €30 per night including dinner and breakfast. Average workers wages were appalling by our standards but the cost of living was so much less so it balanced out. In Singapore the cost of living is high and so the gap is much greater between income and affordability. Tax avoidance for the higher earners will only benefit one portion of society. Those who have money already. Singapore isn’t a filter down society. And with our tax avoidance status we seem to be following suit slowly. Dyson isn’t there in Singapore for the good of his health. His main factories in the Far East are in Malaysia so why isn’t resident there? Because of tax advantages it’s that simple. He also sees “cheap labour” to build his new electric car. The U.K. are trying to get this factory so let’s hope they can.

That's very disparaging of the EU's poor, to brush it off so lightly. The cost to SURVIVE in eastern Europe may well be 50% of that of the UK but it's poor only get 20% of the money the UK poor get. No food banks, no bus passes, no decent health care. I employ people in Romania so certainly don’t brush anything off . I’m doing something. Are you? If you travel there you will see huge investment from companies such as Pirelli and IKEA . The country is a long way from rich and some government ministers need jail time but they have a hard working population. They are growing and standards along with salaries are rising. More countries than Romania and yeah i'm putting every penny i have into the economy." Shame you don’t have any spare for yourself! So what are you doing to help those worse off than you ?

"On the 18th January Boris started the consultation on turning the U.K. into an offshore low tax low regulation state. So that means if you’re rich you will be richer and if you’re poor just get comfy as it won’t be changing. https://dailybusinessgroup.co.uk/2021/01/johnson-consults-on-singapore-of-europe-plan/ To give you an idea of how that will pan out here are two links to show you the gap between rich and poor. And to think some people said “no that’s not the plan and Brexit is nothing to do with tax”. The first link is related to the political elite but the are other links available showing the rich privileged life offered to wealthy tax avoiding individuals. The second is a sad tale of some unfortunate workers earning $5 a day whilst living in the eighth richest country in the world. https://international.thenewslens.com/article/102993 https://borgenproject.org/tag/poverty-in-singapore/ In fairness given the increased costs and total lack of seamless trade over Brexit this is looking like the only option to make the country attractive to major investment. Can’t see it being great for your average worker though. If your wealthy it’s time to say “all our tax haven fish are very happy”! One of the main problems with capitalism and creation of a wealth and a good economy, is some will always get left behind and be on the bottom rung of the ladder, someone has to be. It also attracts people from poorer nations looking for "a better life" always gonna be poverty in or out of the Eu. Many pensioners in EU countries live on £4 per day and the EU are doing nothing about it. Just five years ago I stayed in top end hotels in Romania for €30 per night including dinner and breakfast.
