With the SNP looking to take an overwhelming majority in th Scottish parliament. A recent poll in N.I. favouring a border referendum.

Yes Cymru have seen it ranks swell from 2000 at the beginning of 2020 to now over 17000 with Plaid Cymru promising a independence referendum if they win the next Senedd election.

Have years of mismanagement of the regions by successive governments caused this rise or has Brexit sharpened these fault lines.

How stable is the future of the Union?

Not a blame game just your predictions.

BTW - Back in 2016 I’m on record stating that Brexit would cause a rise in regional nationalism and a greater clamour independence.

I personally don't see the union as stable at all, I don't think it has been for quite a while.

Personally, I'd say let each devolved administration have a referendum but realise it's not quite that simple.

Some would argue Scotland had their chance - I'd argue the terms have changed since.

NI is a different kettle all together - Do they vote to leave the union and join a united Ireland. Or do they vote to leave the union and stand alone?

The only union i could see existing in ten years time would be the United Countries of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Northumberland, Cumbria and Yorkshire.

I don't see it as pessimistic as you do, times have changed and Brexit has worked in favour of a unification.

Personally i think Scotland have a chance of independence, Wales know they cant make it on their own without England and NI will stay in the union as it would have to be a very large majority in a referendum to leave. I cant see it just being a majority vote again like it was for brexit it would be a recipe for a return to violence if it was not an overwhelming majority.

My personal feelings are it won't happen.but I'd be happy for them all to have a referendum and if voted leave but it must mean leave no help no yrs before vote Thursday leave Friday.

You misunderstand the costs involved. That is a base level of military funding that treats the Falklands, much like Belize or in the old days Northern Ireland, as an ideal training ground for our troops, re convoys, landings, close air support etc.

It is not an additional cost, training has to take place somewhere. 60 million is peanuts.

You specifically asked about the British Isles, hence I answered about the British Isles.

I agree, particularly post oil, that the Falklands is not particularly useful or productive, but I could say that about a lot of places. We still need it and we a duty to it.
