Agree. Tories are about greed, chum-ocracy hand outs to their rich pals and wanting those less well off to suffer through right wing ideology, one example being res-mogg whinging about unicef helping hungry children, the fucking prick!

Katherine Hayhoe from Texas Tech climate centre (in the political science dept) did lots of work on the attitudes towards society from people who self identify as more left or right wing.

I'd reccomend looking into her work, it's more US centric. But her conclusions are interesting. More right wing minded people are less likely to want to acknowledge the problems of extreme poverty, climate change, or anything that may force them to evaluate their relatively privileged position in society. I think it applies to people here, you see more right wing leaning people arguing that the government shouldn't feed needy kids, as an example.

It's obviously more nuanced and articulate than my ham fisted explaination. But her stuff is interesting to read.

I agree with your opinion of JRM but not all tories are the same, they have had many MPs who have empathy and integrity. Unfortunately this current group are the worst we have ever seen, the country and the Conservative party can do slot better
