Maybe this was his 'only choice' regardless right from the start.

Purely from a Constitutional law point of view the 25th amendment was designed to be used when the president is incapacitated from carrying out his constitutional duties. Through medical grounds, k1dnapping, political emergencies such as impeachment.

So legally Mike Pence is probably correct to reject using it at this point in time.

Morally that’s a different argument.

Traits such as unpopularity, incompetence, impeachable conduct (depending on the impeachment charge) poor judgment, or laziness might not in and of themselves constitute inability, but should such traits "rise to a level where they prevented the President from carrying out his or her constitutional duties, then they might constitute an inability.

So technically the correct course of action would be impeachment followed by a trial in the Senate. If found guilty then the 25th amendment could be invoked followed by section 3 of the 14th amendment.

BTW I am in no way a cheerleader for the Tangerine Tyrant.

Is that how you found out what it meant? If not, the meaning may be different... Would you have answered if someone else had asked? I was always told there is no such thing as a stupid question just a stupid answer. Why do you expect people to not ask questions about things you tell them? Do you ask questions? If not, why not?
