"Guess what the UK did? I’ll give you a clue, as the second largest producer of waste plastic we have not adopted this legislation. We are allowing our waste to be sent to any country, so long as it isn’t the UK. It hasn’t taken long to diverge from the EU standards. The EU decided to do this in April 2019, we just ignored it. This Government does not care about the environment " Did you miss the UK Environment Bill of January 2020 then?

I forgot that we have the following in place: The Bill includes a power which will enable the government to ban or restrict the export of “polluting plastic waste” to non-OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries. Government says it will consult with industry, NGOs, and local authorities on specific restrictions or prohibitions. Correct me if I am wrong here, but as I understand it this gives the Govt the power to introduce restrictions once they have consulted. It does not seem to actually prohibit it.

Its broadly the same thing. China has become the latest country to ban imports of plastic waste. Avenues for disposal are largely being cut off now. We can all do more. Having the legislation in place is one thing, but the problem of disposal is still there.
