The funding of U.S. political campaigns is being rocked as major firms such as Facebook, BlackRock, Marriott and Dow announced plans to halt some or all political contributions as a result of last week’s insurrection at the Capitol — a sign of corporate America’s growing uneasiness with the election doubts and violent attacks inspired by President Trump. -WAPO

Is this good or bad I can’t decide. Good companies backing is public. Does this leave a space for the slightly more sinister dodgy end of politics funding to take a firmer grip? Ie Alaska and oil?

I think it's good, they are showing that companies don't to be associated with politicians that openly undermine election results.

It’s good they are taking a stand I agree.

I think the American system is beyond broken. The fact that it cost $14Billion to run the last election shows that money talks in America but I suspect the recipients don’t care who’s it is.

So it has more to do with the person, not their bank balance. If your premise was true then Mitt Romney would be king of the shitposters.
