TRUMP

Good riddance to an unhinged lunatic who has disgraced the office of the Presidency.

This was the case long before the Capitol riot.

That has simply emphasised how unfit he always was for the the job.

A man with no experience of government or public administration, whose only claim to fame was as a bully on a television reality show and a shady entrepreneur who enriched himself by dubious means, was never going to make a gracious and honourable president.

He doesn't possess those qualities and only ever got elected by appealing to the lowest common denominator among the American people, those similar to himself, who have showed themselves in their true colours in the last couple of days.

The man was a total fraud.

Goodbye loser !

Highest vote counts in history on both candidates. Trump had more then obama. Bidens won 51.3 of the popular vote. That is not a low denominator.

He is a criminal who belongs in the big house, not the White House. Very rarely held accountable in business, personal life or politics, this psychopath has pushed too far on this occasion.

If USA is to avoid the behaviour of Trump and his supporters becoming capable of repetition under another demagogue, Biden will need to be resolute and allow the justice system to throw the book at Trump and those who indulged in domestic terrorism at his behest.

Similarly, if the GOP wishes to rebuild any credibility, it will need to ditch the many who supported or enabled the deranged dictator.

First president to have lost the popular vote twice..

Only the fourth single term president to fail to be re elected..

Having said that, they are merely numbers and his legacy of self profiteering and deliberately causing division will be the train wreck most will look back upon ..

Trump and anyone involved in any type of seditious behavior just to influence a election. Both sides of the isle needs to be held responsible. Rioters looters occupiers on every level or the alternative is going to be more civil disobedience. Except this time it will be worse.

All those arrested now could become martyrs to a cause. It's thin ice without concessions to the riots that happened over the summer. Dangerous territory.

You want to talk about Georgia? Why is so significant? It's significant because winning in Georgia is the backlash to a massive sustained campaign of voter suppression, which was linked to race. Who undertook that voter suppression? Why, it was the republican party. And in response to the voter suppression Stacy Adams cost them 2 senators and the White House.

None of the above was pertinent to the discussion but you did insist on bringing it up

From wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stacey_Abrams#2018_gubernatorial_campaign

"As Georgia's secretary of state, Kemp (republican( was in charge of elections and voter registration during the election. Between 2012 and 2018, Kemp's office cancelled over 1.4 million voter registrations, with nearly 700,000 cancellations in 2017 alone.[41] On a single night in July 2017, half a million voters had their registrations cancelled. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, election-law experts said that this "may represent the largest mass disenfranchisement in US history."[6] Kemp oversaw the removals as Secretary of State, and did so eight months after he declared that he was going to run for governor.[42] An investigative journalism group run by Greg Palast found that of the approximately 534,000 Georgians whose voter registrations were purged between 2016 and 2017 more than 334,000 still lived where they were registered.[43] The voters were given no notice that they had been purged.[44] Palast ultimately sued Kemp, claiming over 300,000 voters were purged illegally.[7] Kemp's office denied any wrongdoing, saying that by "regularly updating our rolls, we prevent fraud and ensure that all votes are cast by eligible Georgia voters."

Stacy Abrams formed Fair Fight in response to this, funded by Mike Bloomberg, she added some approximate 800,000 voter registrations. So you don't think the voter suppression was race related?

We don't live in a democracy we like in a constitutional republic. Fore fathers wanted to restrict government control if it gets out of hand. They work for us as duly elected by the people we don't work for them. Democrat or Republican.

Both people are realizing that the 2nd amendment is there for their protection. Negative side bulk ammo is being bought up. This week alone Los Angeles seen a 40% spike in gun sales after the capital assault and this is in a state were gun sales are one of the hardest.

It also might be a direct result of the georgia senate races.

Interesting viewpoints.

Arms manufacturers making a mint I bet.

They are hubby got me a new AR shotgun for Christmas and a new G19 9mm. We reload our own ammo because of the shortage I never seen anything like this in my entire life. It's crazy.

If you live in a democracy, with the worlds strongest military, why do you actually need guns? It all seems a bid sad and very 19th century. It is time to move on, the ballot box counts, not the ammo box.

We don't live in a democracy we like in a constitutional republic. Fore fathers wanted to restrict government control if it gets out of hand. They work for us as duly elected by the people we don't work for them. Democrat or Republican."

Hence the gun spikes all year long we are all for 2nd amendment rights for all people no matter what. People are realizing that right.

This is the same as the UK, Canada, France, Germany. All have a Government appointed by the people and they can be ejected by the people. None of them need guns to do it, they use the ballot box. Until Trump that seemed true about the US as well. It still doesn’t explain why you have more guns than people in the US. It just comes over as a weird fetish.

I don't think, even with a heavily armed population, that we would stand a chance against the army. They have drones, organisation, know how and probably a lot of tech I've never heard of.

And I genuinely can't ever see a situation where that would happen in reality.

"Why bring up slave ownership then at all? Why not just say it's just a old legacy. But it is still a fair legacy. Point to Georgia as a direct result of that legacy slave ownership or not. Their voice was heard now wasn't it ? They were a decisive factor as it should be.

And as it should be Stacy is a hero don't you agree ? You throw something race related in every post you make. There was no inequality this election now was there. People no matter what race turned out and had their voice heard. Past elections are not pertinent to this one. Yes Biden won yes georgia won irrelevant to voter supression. The problem people are screaming about is not race related. So keep stacking your cards up.

From wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stacey_Abrams#2018_gubernatorial_campaign

As Georgia's secretary of state, Kemp (republican( was in charge of elections and voter registration during the election. Between 2012 and 2018, Kemp's office cancelled over 1.4 million voter registrations, with nearly 700,000 cancellations in 2017 alone.[41] On a single night in July 2017, half a million voters had their registrations cancelled. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, election-law experts said that this "may represent the largest mass disenfranchisement in US history."[6] Kemp oversaw the removals as Secretary of State, and did so eight months after he declared that he was going to run for governor.[42] An investigative journalism group run by Greg Palast found that of the approximately 534,000 Georgians whose voter registrations were purged between 2016 and 2017 more than 334,000 still lived where they were registered.[43] The voters were given no notice that they had been purged.[44] Palast ultimately sued Kemp, claiming over 300,000 voters were purged illegally.[7] Kemp's office denied any wrongdoing, saying that by "regularly updating our rolls, we prevent fraud and ensure that all votes are cast by eligible Georgia voters.

Stacy Abrams formed Fair Fight in response to this, funded by Mike Bloomberg, she added some approximate 800,000 voter registrations. So you don't think the voter suppression was race related?

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pro-trump-rep-responds-cnn-pundit

Let's just say both sides are trying to suppress and leave it at that."

It doesn't matter how many time you say it, there isn't an both sides in this conversation, only one side questioned the election results, the same side that practises voter suppression.

"Good riddance to an unhinged lunatic who has disgraced the office of the Presidency.

Goodbye loser !"

I think it’s deeply disturbing to see a small number of people openly trying to remove a democratically elected president. That is a BIG problem. Trump is definitely right. There needs to be greater transparency in the electoral system. However once one side starts the other will ramp it up. Bieden won’t last a term. It’s just going to boil down into a disgusting 3rd world country blood bath. The democrats behaviour.

Reading Obama’s book really is inspirational and depressing at the same time and from that it’s clear.

Ensuring transparency in the election process and then empower the elected government is the way forward. At the moment America is going to get swamped by China.

Yeah that worked. I agree with what he said about Biden. He should have done better, and he has fanned the flames. Even though, I personally agree with Biden that if the people storming Congress were BLM protesters, there would have been a much more lethal response. It's not helpful for him to say that at this time.

I think this guy implying that the BLM protests can be equated to what happened in the Congress building is an over simplification. They are both complex issues with different people, different groups of people, with different ideologies, with some small overlap in tactics.

Biden is the doddery older guy, Trump is the also old but confused guy with a terrible comb-over.

https://video.parler.com/Q5/Wz/Q5WzApnChDA7_small.mp4

The general feeling. Idk if you can open it.

They are both complex issues with different people, different groups of people, with different ideologies, with some small overlap in tactics."

That's the point they are still fanning the flames instead of coming together when both sides agree. It's sad really sad.

"I think it’s deeply disturbing to see a small number of people openly trying to remove a democratically elected president.

Agree that the political process around the world has become gang warfare, euro elites in private jets telling common people to save the planet, so many noses in the trough... Biden is another long time feeder..... it's not about running countries its about personal power, how much is Blair worth now? They are all fucking us over and building empires, yes Obama included, the Clinton's were lining up daughters as future presidential candidates, get out the guillotines.

Trump is a traitor who attempted a Coup in Washington DC. I believe that this is against the Constitution which everyone seems to want to uphold, including all of its amendments. He should be arrested by the Capitol Police and charged with sedition and murder. We all saw what he did, attempting to be an apologist for him now is shameful

This is SOP for the Republicans, Nixon tried to turn America into a one party state. Mass voter suppression is still their a tool in their arsenal. They enabled and protected Trump. They are complicit in undermining the election and now some are trying to diminish what the domestic terrorists and seditionists attempted on the Jan 6 2020. I do believe it will happen again.

"Gun sales up ammo shortage tell tale signs. We can't find certain types of ammo because people buying them in bulk.

You're pro-guns right?

Is this a positive, or negative development?

Both people are realizing that the 2nd amendment is there for their protection. Negative side bulk ammo is being bought up. This week alone Los Angeles seen a 40% spike in gun sales after the capital assault and this is in a state were gun sales are one of the hardest.

It also might be a direct result of the georgia senate races.

Interesting viewpoints.

Arms manufacturers making a mint I bet.

They are hubby got me a new AR shotgun for Christmas and a new G19 9mm. We reload our own ammo because of the shortage I never seen anything like this in my entire life. It's crazy."

Jesus Christ !

And yet the Democrats won't support a domestic terrorism bill ? "

the FBI is warning that it has received information warning of "armed protests" in all 50 state capitols and the US Capitol in Washington, DC, next week during the presidential transition.

Read the full FBI statement below:

"While our standard practice is to not comment on specific intelligence products, the FBI is supporting our state, local, and federal law enforcement partners with maintaining public safety in the communities we serve. Our efforts are focused on identifying, investigating, and disrupting individuals that are inciting violence and engaging in criminal activity.

"As we do in the normal course of business, we are gathering information to identify any potential threats and are sharing that information with our partners. The FBI respects the rights of individuals to peacefully exercise their First Amendment rights. Our focus is not on peaceful protesters, but on those threatening their safety and the safety of other citizens with violence and destruction of property."

The 2nd amendment isnt for personal protection .

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

"

James Madison who originally proposed the Second Amendment shortly after the Constitution was officially ratified as a way to provide more power to state militias, which today are considered to be the National Guard.

This is effectively a hangover from the the American Revolutionary War of 1775 - 1783

Having just used guns and other arms to fight off the English, the amendment was originally created to give citizens the opportunity to fight back against a tyrannical federal government.

However due to its wording it has been interpreted in different ways but mainly fall into two camps.

One think the amendment gives each state the right to maintain and train formal militia units i.e. the National Guard.

The other viewpoint believes the amendment gives every citizen the right to own guns, free of federal regulations.

The amendment really needs to be clarified as to it’s meaning in the modern world.

To repeal it is one of the biggest hot potato’s in American politics and no politician is likely to touch it with a barge pole. Even clarification of how it should be interpreted is almost akin to committing political suicide.

My view is I don’t like the idea of having or need for armed citizens in a civil society. But that is a British perspective where gun ownership is a rare thing here.

Though having lived in America for a couple of years I never witnessed any form of gun crime apart from what was shown on the TV news.

Governors can call out the national guard as they see fit. Militias and personal protection is the next step down from controlling that government control. National guard is still controlled by a state entity. A government. It's up to the people to maintain a balance too.

In most western democratic societies power to control the government is done by the power of the ballot box not at the point of a gun.

Very few feel the need or requirement to arm it’s citizens.

A state governor can be impeached by the state legislature in a similar process to impeachment of the president.

Who can bare arms all comes down to interpretation of the 2nd amendment.

Though it was designed to provide protection against tyrannical governments. Which obviously occupied the minds of the founding fathers having just won the Revolutionary War.

Like I said the 2nd amendment is a raw nerve in American society as any changes or even clarification run slap bang into the notions of liberty and freedom that form the bedrock of the American psyche.

I would argue that point since gun sales are at a all time high. Covid government and personal protection. Owning a gun is not a issue when you own them all your life. No one here trusts the government completely like the UK. Ballot box has no meaning if you don't have the means to make it fair. Natioal guard and federal soldiers are just that a soldier. We have the individual right to protect from these entities. UK relies on a herd mentality. We decide our destiny. Not politicians and military leaders or monarchs.

Also the irony is not lost on me that armed groups who so fanatically fully defend the 2nd amendment are advocating armed uprisings in 50 state capitols to coincide with the president-elect inauguration. They want to overturn the results of the election in the mistaken belief it was stolen.

Using theses uprisings to impose a Trump tyranny. Which is exactly what the 2nd amendment was designed to prevent.

How is your ballot box not fair from my experience of living in the US and witnessing a several elections one Presidential and others at state level I would say they were the most open and honest I’ve seen.

The difference in the UK is that we don’t have a herd mentality when it comes to a political support. What it is no matter how fanatical your support for a political party and it’s policies at our core we know that most of our politicians could not even organise a piss up in a brewery.

So we trust elections to vote in one set of incompetents only to vote them out again and replace them with another set of incompetents.

If the trump supporters hadn't been brainwashed by trump, the republican politicians that followed trump like mindless fools, and the lying right wing social media and lying right wing news media, they would realize they should be mad at all of them for lying for the last four years, instead of the democrats that were telling the truth about everything that was going on right in front of their faces. Hopefully more of them wise up to the fact they've been lied to and suckered by the same people they believed in for the past four years.

They need to hold all of those lying people from trump on down, and the lying organizations, fully accountable for the damage they have caused this nation. The rest are in some serious need of

re-education to the actual facts.

American worship the notions of freedom and liberty with almost quasi religious status.

However the conundrum here is that without state and federal government involvement in their lives none of these would be possible.

Having studied American history, politics and society together with living in the country for a few years it is a fascinating place of contradictions. Yet on the whole it works after a fashion.
