Trump's Twitter account has just been permanently suspended "due to the risk of further incitement of violence". Finally.

That was only part of the reason. Trump posted on Twitter using one of the Whitehouse accounts. Twitter spotted the post, deleted it straight away and then banned him for life.

"Trump's Twitter account has just been permanently suspended "due to the risk of further incitement of violence". Finally."

Twitter sounds like a cesspool to me and I'm not sure banning him 14 days before he goes is worthy of much praise

And its funny how they haven't banned the CCP or the Ayatollah of Iran yet too. Constantly calling for the destruction of Israel is obviously acceptable to Jack Dorsey

Have they actually called for the destruction of Israel on Twitter? Or did the Fox news article not mention that?

Interesting. Because this language and example is directly from the Fox News article. But hey, coincidences happen.

How do we find this threat to Israel on Twitter? I'll have a look, and report it to them. Because I agree, inciting violence should be consistently removed.

I wouldn't know how to get fox news if I wanted to. And if you're on Twitter I assume you would know what to do

Ok, but the issue was incitement to violence abs that series of tweets has been removed, and I believe he’s had his English language account suspended so job done?

But his account hasn't been terminated. Phew! As long as the Ayatollah of Iran is ok by Twitter

Doesn't sound like a direct comparison.

How do you know who tweets what if you're not on Twitter?

Derry

As with everything else, trump tested the limits of Twitter. He was using it to promote birther conspiracies since 2010, After his candidacy and winning the presidency, he only got worse. He realised that Twitter couldn't mute the President of the USA so he turned up the hate and the lies. When they saw they could question the veracity of his tweets during the election campaign without major comeback, that was the start of reining him in.

The reason they gave for permanently suspending his accounts wasn't the attack on Congress, it was he was inciting further violence on Congress from his supporters. As the saying goes the best time to plant a tree was 50 years ago, the second best time is today.

The social media companies are complicit in the rise and spread of disinformation, they now have to deal with an administration that might just rein them in. They're trying to get ahead of things
