The Tory split over Europe is gone, Labours problems are just around the corner, they’ve still got to sort out who runs the party, the centre left or the far left (or true socialism as some might say). Just my opinion & I could be wrong of course.

But it’s not a decent opposition we need it’s an opposition who will challenge the government & hold them to account, no matter which party is in power. that’s what makes healthy politics.

If you look at the last time labour had such a split it took years for them to get back to being electable. Just my opinion x

Depends of whether the Scots and Irish vote to leave the union. Scots first in my opinion; Irish soon after perhaps.

Interestingly, lots of Brexiteers were telegraphing the demise / break of the EU - apparently by 2026. My money would be on the break of the U.K. as we know it before any break up of the EU.

If you want a different Goverment, get a credible Opposition going, and then convince enough of the electorate to vote for you at the next GE.

Well we’re not going to give the Scots another vote, and when they start to see us powering ahead free of the yoke of Brussels they will want some of that and the SNP will die off.

When I was last up in Glasgow, back in late September I was surprised by how many Scottish are getting fed up with the SNP & especially Sturgeon. Yes the the SNP has 45% of the vote, but they still haven’t got above the 50% mark though they are mainly a one trick party since their beginning . If labour do get their act together & can make themselves credible in Scotland again then that changed the whole dynamic. If labour can’t regain seats in Scotland then they will always struggle to control Westminster.

Well we’ll see in May. The polls (which we know can be inaccurate) suggest a lot of support for SI - even if not the SNP.

It’s also going to be difficult for Boris to refuse a referendum if the SNP do very well in May and support for it grows. Watch this space.

COVID is the new battle standard, not Scotland or Ireland. Local elections in May should be interesting. I don’t see Labour gaining anything (because they’re not an opposition in any way shape or form). Potential upsets from independent parties depending on where they field candidates. Despite the media and the governments push to make covid this unstoppable juggernaut that can only be stopped with economic shut down, there are a lot of people turning. Not just on the government but the NHS, PHE and the media.

May will be the signal fire for what’s around the corner. I can’t bloody wait

Starmer is an idiot who turns whichever way he thinks the wind is blowing, doesn't have a principled bone in his body and gets it wrong every time. Whenever he is asked a serious question that he's not prepared for he is like a rabbit caught in the headlights, clueless. Starmer isn’t the man to take Labour back into power. They’ve become a non entity through covid. They’ve challenged nothing. They’ve declared their support for the government before the government had even revealed their plans. Their only criticism of how covid has been handled is the Tories didn’t go hard enough for long enough. Folk won’t forget that when the jobs dry up

Good one.

Just another hollow argument that doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

Starmer is extremely sharp. I'm a lawyer and I can tell you categorically, you don't become Queen's Counsel, and DPP without being able to answer a serious question and formulate a decent, well supported arguments, on the hop, often in front of the most senior judges in the land. In short, you need superb analytical skills, just to survive.

Give the man time.

Personally, I think he's clearing the decks at the moment and there was a lot of mess to be sure.

Once the noise of Brexit dies down a little and COVID clears up, we'll see what he's truly made of, in terms of opposition. One thing we do have evidence of, however, is BoJo's 'caught in the headlights' stare, when confronted by Starmer's forensic-like propensity for details. Take a look for yourself next time there's a PMQs.

I once got told of a chap called George Carman QC that his job is to get his client off by the means possible regardless of their guilt. As you & I both know it’s not just in innocent that walk free, he may not lie but that doesn’t mean he tells the truth. & SKS also has a media fault his eyes blink rapidly when he lies. "

That's a nice anecdote but not really relevant!

When and where did he tell you this out of interest

"Starmer is an idiot who turns whichever way he thinks the wind is blowing, doesn't have a principled bone in his body and gets it wrong every time. Whenever he is asked a serious question that he's not prepared for he is like a rabbit caught in the headlights, clueless. It's about time the Labour Party was put out of its misery, its days are long gone and it's time for the formation of a new party

Did it auto correct from boris ?
