Yes he slouched in the commons, but that doesnt mean he is an obnoxious cunt, in fact when I see him in an interview he is very polite, he listens to others points, he doesnt interrupt or shout others down, also I'm sure he isnt lazy but then I haven't followed him about either

Has he ever said he "hates" gay people.

He is a practicing catholic and follows that ethos, ie against same sex marriage and abortion, surely he is entitled to that view even if he is in the minority or is it another example of the intolerance of the tolerant. Remember he may he in a minority now but at one point he was in a large majority, had not people been tolerant of others views then the law would never had changed

Of course he's allowed to discriminate against gay people because he thinks a fictional supernatural being tells him to.

Why am I not allowed to suggest that this is not cool, and renders someone unfit for government?

And I disagree, the laws changed because people decided not to tolerate his kind of bigotry against gay people.

Who has suggested he is allowed to discriminate against anyone? He is however entitled to have an opinion, you say he shows bigotry against gay people, yet you are showing bigotry against those who believe in God does that make you or anyone else who thinks the same unfit for public office. Yet again you are showing the intolerance of tolerant. Except JRM isn't a partner in Somerset Capital anymore. He relinquished that role when he became a Cabinet Minister.

He's had no involvement in making any financial decisions for a longtime now, and certainly not during the pandemic.

I think your view on this creates an aperspectival flatland, a relativistic perspective where no view has any more value than others.

Evolutionary developmental psychology shows that JRM’s action logic comes from an earlier stage of evolutionary development than your own. Yet he would probably criticise you for being too woke!

Indeed.

But forming an opinion on someone based on their actions and their character makes more sense to me that judging someone on their sexuality.

Oh for sure. JRM’s belief system is in line with the ethnocentric beliefs of the premodern churches and his rhetoric and actions need to be confronted. However we need to remember the reason we recognise it, is that that is a part of us too, even if our thinking has evolved.

To have UNICEF coming to this country to feed our poor kids tells you a lot about the government.

Where the fuck is all the money raised from comic relief or children in need, or all those charities, all that money from Captain Tom? Where is all the money we give to goodwill go?

Seems we have an endless supply of money to give to these charities. But it ends up nowhere.

Time we abolished these virtue signalling charities, and made a flat rate charity tax which goes into a giant pot which then is distributed fairly to good causes. Because clearly the money we give is not going to the right people.

The one thing you could guarantee about a charity tax is that once the government got their hands on it, bugger all would go to the right people.

"He certainly isnt lazy..he has worked hard to make a lot of money out of this pandemlc and he even took time out to slate a charity who are trying to feed hungry children.

A fine man

Explain how he's made money out of this pandemic?

There is plenty of information out there

How about you back up your claim?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/business/2020/apr/05/rees-mogg-firm-accused-of-cashing-in-on-coronavirus-crisis

Except JRM isn't a partner in Somerset Capital anymore. He relinquished that role when he became a Cabinet Minister.

He's had no involvement in making any financial decisions for a longtime now, and certainly not during the pandemic.

So this is incorrect?

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/jacob-rees-mogg-set-for-800-000-dividend-from-somerset-capital-management-g6dwr9zvl"

As a shareholder, he will recieve a dividend payment.

That dividend is for last years trading, YE March 2020.

So again, how haa JRM "been working hard to make money out of the pandemic"?

Nothing like letting your prejudice show through. Have you spent everyday of his life with him to know this, if trump said something as stupid folk would call him out on it.

Have you seen him when he is in the house ? I don’t let my son lay around like that, and it’s not because he is posh I know lots of posh and very well off people and they are not like that.

Yes he slouched in the commons, but that doesnt mean he is an obnoxious cunt, in fact when I see him in an interview he is very polite, he listens to others points, he doesnt interrupt or shout others down, also I'm sure he isnt lazy but then I haven't followed him about either

That wasn't your original claim though!

Yes, he profits from being a shareholder in SCM, but he could also lose money.

To suggest that he "is working hard to make money out of the pademic" is wrong.

To answer Fabtastic's claim here, it was actually a Partner in SCM that made the claim, not JRM.

Someone that you quote often, Jolyon Maughan, called it out as a rubbish story with no basis.

Got a pension? Well, your provider will be playing the markets just as SCM do. In fact anyone can do it, its so easy to play the markets these days. Buy low, sell high... Its the way that Investment Funds, Trusts, Pension providers get income to pay you your income and pensions.

Let’s be totally honest here, JRM will make money from Brexit and even more money from a no deal Brexit , which is fine, it is nothing he is trying to hide . What makes me laugh is that people think he wants Brexit to help the country and the working class, he couldn’t care less about either a

So you don't see a conflict of interest in owning 15% of an investment firm that he founded, and his position in government where he makes policy?

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/jacob-rees-mogg-set-for-800-000-dividend-from-somerset-capital-management-g6dwr9zvl

As a shareholder, he will recieve a dividend payment.

That dividend is for last years trading, YE March 2020.

So again, how haa JRM "been working hard to make money out of the pandemic"?

So has he he profited?

Yes or no?

I said he had profited from the crises.

That is a fact.

Are you genuinely suggesting that covid is waiting for JRM to make a big wedge of cash before it dissipates!

Of all this weird conspiracies I've heard on Covid. This has to be the most outlandish.

No. I am saying that if nobody did anything nothing would change. You are so short sighted it's unbelievable. Let's try something simple. If there is a housing crash for example, should people not invest in the low prices while they can? This will make money for them when prices do rise but it will also help to raise prices which will take people out of negative equity. Win win. Or is it best for nobody to do anything?

You realise it's the job of these people to manage the country?

They are public servants

If they want to be investments bankers..perhaps they shouldnt have went into politics.

And if you cant see the ethical dimension of this, you are utterly deluded.

Good hustle.

I'm not interested in answering random, unrelated questions in some weird attempt to "win" your perceived internet argument.

You're free to believe anything you want about Covid being sentient, JRM not being a horrific self serving human, and something about the housing market that I don't care about.

Just watched an excerpt from The Daily Mash about him- a staunch Opus Dei member who bases his life and beliefs around his religion....once he’s cherry picked some tenets. For instance, he opposed bringing parentless immigrants into the UK from the camps of Calais- Jesus was an immigrant and could walk on water- he’d have been sent right back in JRM’s watch. Sums him up- the Meek have no chance of inheriting a world lead by his ilk.

If there is 1 thing the incident has proven, its that there is literally no one tories and their fan club wont smear, if it means that the wont have to face an ounce of responsibility.

I guess that's why are so successful at elections.

It’s too simplistic a view- there are rich nurses getting £100,000 a year, teachers £80,000 and council employees £150,000+

Nor is it about simply money- there’s leaving the EU, business, promises, tactical voting, fear mongering, personality cults and so on. Every MP gets elected with a mixture of all that.

For ReesMogg to be elected and hold his seat so long, he has to be doing something his constituents are happy with or the opposition are too weak to challenge him. Which is it?

"If there is 1 thing the incident has proven, its that there is literally no one tories and their fan club wont smear, if it means that the wont have to face an ounce of responsibility.

Teachers.check

Nurses check.

A charity to feed starving kids.check.

I guess that's why are so successful at elections.

They would sell their own mother to get ahead and they appeal to that broad demographic.

To be successful at elections I guess there must be a lot of nurses, teachers and other public sector workers who vote for them

Somehow I doubt that.So what you saying only rich people vote for tories? there must be a hell of a lot of rich people in the uk for them to keep winning.

Where did I say just rich people vote Tory?well someone must if you doubt teachers, nurses and public services people do.

We of course some teachers, nurses and public sector employees are easily fooled too.Not according to lionel.

I disagree with Lionel.

I suppose the argument is that these people are impacted more than the average working class Tory voters. Which could be true.

My initial point was that teachers and nurses are 2 groups which Tories and their ilk.

Have hit back at.

Wtf does that mean? "

Perhaps actually read what I actually posted earlier on.

"It’s too simplistic a view- there are rich nurses getting £100,000 a year, teachers £80,000 and council employees £150,000+

Which is it?"

Missing my point.

He is elected because it's a safe Tory seat and his constituents obviously applaud his stance on homosexuality and refusing to answer questions in parliament.

Well apparently the majority of Muslims believe that homosexuality should be made illegal, so according to you they might have a friend in JRM eh?

It was nothing to do with religion.

Quite why muslims have been brought into the debate is bizarre.

Jrg has took it onto himself to criticise a charity set up to help children in poverty, rather than addressing the actual major problem itself.

Which is why does one of the richest countries in the world have children going hungry.

And the tory fan club are fully on board.

FFS you said his constituents obviously applaud his stance on sexuality! And his stance comes from his religion doesn't it? And which religion is most strongly against homosexuality? Are they the constituents you were talking about who back him?

"To have UNICEF coming to this country to feed our poor kids tells you a lot about the government.

If this tax were ring fenced and not to be used by government to spend on their crap it could be simple. I think we can learn from past methods to prevent abuse of funds etc.

Sick of charity we give not being spent wisely.

The thread was nothing to do with sexuality or religion.

Someone mentioned why does he get voted in..presumably because his constituents agree with him..but it's completely off topic.
