"Royal Navy has always patrolled uk waters to prevent illegal fishing, whether that is by UK boats or EU boats. " So why is it making such big news? One of the pro eu arguments that tends to be overlooked is the lack of conflict which has come about with increased economic cooperation.

One of the pro eu arguments that tends to be overlooked is the lack of conflict which has come about with increased economic cooperation. " Its making news because these are armed patrol boats. The River class patrol boats, which four have been put on standby, have a 20mm cannon, plus light machine guns. These are not warships as portrayed by the press. They have every right to patrol our waters, and to uphold our laws. And that includes assisting fisheries protection vessels. They will not be needed as the EU fisherman will abide by whatever agreement comes into force on January 1st.

Assigning major surface combatants is a ridiculous use of the Royal Navy's ever dwindling strength. Even hinting at it is no more than wank-fodder for the usual sheep.

"During the Cod war we had a large fleet of Frigates that could in theory have blown the Icelandic gunboats out of the water. However Iceland was a NATO member, as are a France, so the Royal Navy had to watch as the much stronger made Icelandic gunboats tried to ram the frigates which were made of thin aluminium. The Frigates had to run away and the trawlers had to do the fighting themselves as they were a stronger build The French trawlers just have to push their beam drags out and they will easily punch holes in the naval patrol boats. Unless we want to shoot them or torpedo the trawlers we are just wanking into tissue so a bit of a waste really!, We won’t attack citizens of a fellow NATO member. Biden will tell Boris to shut the fuck up and play nice,. " so you mean we play nice and others don’t typical and some paint us as the bad guys lol

Does anyone think in reality we will attack fishermen? I don’t care which side of Brexit you are this is just bullshit. We have fishery inspections and they will be expanded I’m sure . To say to say the Royal navy has been put on alert and warships have been sent is just Trump like war mongering bollocks. Btw if you check most Hollywood films the brits are the bad guys.. but I think that’s because we don’t care and won’t sue!

"I really dont get why people are up in arms over this, if there is no deal then on the first of jan any EU fishing boat in our waters is breaking the law, it's the navy and coastguards job to enforce the law at sea." The Dutch trawler the Cornelis Vrolijk catches 23% of Britain's fish from the quotas the Netherlands bought. It sails out of Hull, employing British trawlermen and sails under a British flag. Who are they going to arrest?

"Wouldn't it to be prudent to let the french fish in your waters ? To avoid any issue?" Sadly, "Prudent" and "brexit" are polar opposites.

As far as I understand in that case no one will be arrested assuming they have a British license and crucially land their catch back in Britain. I think basically if you have a British license and land any catch in Britain then no real change. If its a vessel that does not have a British license and wants to just fish here to return the catch to the continent then it could well change

"The fishermen on the south coast think its a good idea and want a no deal What will happen when they cant sell there fish to Europe ? Such a defeatist attitude ... " The French have already said they won't off load, UK boats after a no deal Brexit. They also mentioned blocking harbours, by setting alight boats or sinking them.

"Jesus christ listen to yourselves no longer part of the EU which means your country has a duty to uphold its maritime and security laws of its seas... Pretty basic logic. Besides when have they not actually been there. " The Royal Navy has been doing this for years, by escorting Russian naval vessels through the english chaneel.
