Boris has lowered the UK demands on fishing, says he will now accept 60% quota handback, previously the absolute red line was 80%. Meanwhile the EU is offering 16%....

So how low will Boris go? Anyone up for a Fab sweepstake?

No it was always 60% british owned vessels, 60% british crewed and 60% of all catches landed in the uk not sure where your 80% came from.

I have no idea mate im not part of fishing for Britain but thats what was reported by the bbc back in may,Barnier could be saying it was 80% and he has got it down to 60% to make it look like he won or the uk wanted 60% and told him it was 80% so they got what they wanted who knows but if they are both happy its a step nearer to a deal.

Guardian article read as if UK wanted back 80% of what EU currently has (which i guess might equate to 60% of the total). Boris has now said he will accept 60% back (maybe 45% of the total, but sounds a lot better). EU have said they are giving back no more than 18% of their current share.

My guess is that it will go to the wire before boris finally caves and ends up with 10% or less - worse than the original offer from them. After all he does have form - the much vaunted, so masterfully negotiated "oven ready" deal was considerably crapper than where T May had started from over a year earlier...

The guardian article is fact of what the guardian has reported. Whether it is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth i have no way of knowing - i am neither the government or the EU negotiator. All i can say is that the guardian is a widely respected newspaper which on more than one occasion has proved itself more truthful than the prime minister.

The 10% figure is nothing but my speculation at what the final settlement might be, suggesting only half in jest that the UK negotiating team and boris in particular are so weak that they will end up with less than they were offered at the start.

If you read the OP, it invites all to take part in a sweepstake ie. give me your (calculated or merely humerous) guess at what the final result might be.

Prize list to be published, or not, after the event. Opinions of the judges are final.

*Competition not open to employees or their relatives, void where prohibited by law, prizes may not be exchanged for equivalent cash benefit.

If there is no deal the EU will get zero percent, the fishing grounds of the UK are ours and the eu will have no right whatever to catch any fish in them. They are not giving anything back, its not theirs
