Quotes from Boris prior to the referendum before he decided to go for his moment in the spotlight. Both early 2016

“ This is a market on our doorstep, ready for further exploitation by British firms. The membership fee seems rather small for all that access. Why are we so determined to turn our back on it?”

“ It is also true the single market is of considerable value to many UK companies and consumers: leaving would cause at least some business uncertainty, while embroiling Govt for several years in a fiddly process of negotiating new arrangements, diverting energy from the real problems – low skills, low social mobility, low investment etc – that have nothing to do with Europe.”

2013

“ If we left the EU, we would end this sterile debate, and we would have to recognise that most of our problems are not caused by ‘Brussels’, but by chronic British short-termism, inadequate management, sloth, low skills, a culture of easy gratification and underinvestment in both human and physical capital and infrastructure.”

Ernst and Young figures - 7500 high paid banking jobs have now moved to Europe. Along with the increasing job movement over £1trillion in funds has been moved with this figure expected to dramatically increase if a no deal is added to the pot. The U.K. is losing major listings on the FTSE 100 to Paris. This is all big tax losses to the U.K. government.

The SMMT a non political organisation representing the car industry is calling for a deal as the U.K. car industry calculates a £55Billion loss over 3 years without one.

Brexit keeps giving. Boris did tell you it was a bad idea. You just didn’t listen?

What's this......a politician saying one thing, then saying the exact opposite when a sniff of power comes along? Who would have thought this? Surely this is false news....as we all know, our politicians are chock full of integrity, loyalty and truthfulness.

Yes regardless of your views on Brexit this is an example of the type of man we have as our PM.

I don’t think he’s fit to run our country and that’s not being pro Tory or labour I’m just talking about the man himself.

We all deserve better left wing right wing, pro Brexit anti Brexit this man is not fit to be our leader.

He is an opportunist, but people will dismiss this as ‘all politicians are same’ etc etc. On the plus side, he won’t be PM for much longer

He’ll be around until the summer I suspect then when the numbers start to get worse he’ll be away and leave it to some poor sap to try and clean up after him.

Hope I’m wrong for all our sakes but reading that the city are now starting to pile out in a bit more haste is very very concerning .

If he doesn’t get a deal of some sort I suspect we are fucked!

COVID means we have less funds to fight with.

Any business knows you makes changes when you have cash. If you wait until you run out of cash you can’t make the changes. They are made for you.

Our debt is scary. Sunak knows he can’t start a panic so I’m sure will be very careful .

Notice no one defending the two faced arse.

He was against Brexit until he thought he could be prime minister. Get Brexit done is my watchword fuck the facts and my actual beliefs on how much damage it will cause.

This is the mark of the man we have unfortunately elected our leader. He is making us a joke as the political circles know who he really is. He claimed the Boris bike when it was actually a Ken Livingstone aide.

His own mayoral office said he never did the detail as mayor just the public rambling. They did say he was a good deflector. He’s a story teller but doesn’t care who suffers as long as he looks good. Yes vain was another criticism.

His belief in his own entitlement is overwhelming.

In the First World War the comment lions led by donkeys was the term that resonated.

No disrespect to the brave men and women of that war. But he is looking more and more like the biggest ass on the planet!

We as a country on all political sides deserve so much better.

Vent over .. carry on with perving everyone as not looking to debate just wanted to get it off my chest.

The fact is once the vote to leave was made by a majority of the voting population, it then becomes the elected officials role/job to deliver the will of the people, like it or not.

Given the point you're trying to make i think he did well after all the bollox that went on in parliament, trying to overturn the vote. I also think it is safe to say if someone in power had, had that attitude from day 1, UK's position today would be a far better position.

These are his words a couple of months before he began to lead the leave campaign so did he suddenly change his mind? Did he fuck he put his own agenda over the U.K.

He didn’t know leave would win but he did know he kept fucking up every job he was given in government including extending that poor woman’s time in Iranian jails.

He knew his days at the top table were numbered and this was a slim chance to leap up into the top job. Remember even Gove said he wasn’t a fit person to be PM.

With Farage and Cummins leading the way he manoeuvred well and avoiding Andre Neil type scrutiny so I will compliment him on avoiding any details .

The three line slogans of Cummins and co ranted out over and over . The bus which 70% of the population believed to be true.

Turkey sending a million people .

I can’t knock him for pulling of the best bullshit job of all time . He did it very well. Especially with the help from the media.

Oh and did you see with our Turkey deal Erdogan wants special status for Turks application for entry into and migration to the U.K. .

Looks like they will be coming after all.

The 70% figure is recorder by a Gallup pill asking if you believed the intention was to give the NHS £350 million . That poll was taken across both leave and remain supporters .

All the 70% said yes.

It worked a treat with its intention so classic misrepresentation.

Happy to accept timing corrections but the intention and his words are quoted . Feel free to say they are not true! And weren’t stated in 2016.

I haven’t checked the dates on the Calendar of intentions in his head .

It’s the same intention whatever day you say it.

He’s a chancer and I fully admit done well with it.

I would love him to be interviewed by Andrew Neil and for him to answer in detail rather than three line slogans .

He never will because he knows he will fail.

I do actually admire Boris for his genuine belief in the bulldog spirit and if we could trade numbers and deals with that spirit great but in reality the numbers set the deal not how you feel about them.

He’s from a Victorian bygone age where Great Britain did actually hold all the cards . And if you said otherwise a grey gunboat would rock up to educate you in the error of your ways.

Sadly we are not that world power anymore .

"Quotes from Boris prior to the referendum before he decided to go for his moment in the spotlight.

"Quotes from Boris prior to the referendum before he decided to go for his moment in the spotlight.

Let's assume the provided statements are true, and this was his position at the time.

You do remember he voted twice against a very similar deal? So he was actually responsible for some of "the bollox in Parliament"? "

"Boris went from dead against the idea of a Brexit due to the economic damage it would cause the UK to Brexits the best thing since sliced bread because he saw the potential personal gain.

So he knew that Leave would win did he?

If you allow the figure (maybe correct may not) the bus is definitely not a lie. It says we send money to the EU. Lets fund the NHS instead. It does not say lets give it all to the NHS

Exact words

We send the eu £350m a week

Lets fund the nhs instead

Definitely not a lie?

Ok and grass isnt green

When did he ever say give ALL of it to the NHS? ..... i know never!"

Nonsense, the Theresa May “deal” (not actually a deal) had a temporary customs union preventing us doing our own trade deals, we would still be under the ECJ for disputes, and the divorce bill was at least 35 to 39 billion.

It all looks even more naive now than it seemed at the time. Thank goodness some MPs listened and voted against.

I refuse to believe any sentient human thought that they were voting for a government in the referendum, only a government can make spending decisions.

If anyone did think that they need reporting and locking up as a danger to themselves and others.

"Boris went from dead against the idea of a Brexit due to the economic damage it would cause the UK to Brexits the best thing since sliced bread because he saw the potential personal gain.

So he knew that Leave would win did he?

If you allow the figure (maybe correct may not) the bus is definitely not a lie. It says we send money to the EU. Lets fund the NHS instead. It does not say lets give it all to the NHS

Exact words

We send the eu £350m a week

Lets fund the nhs instead

Definitely not a lie?

Ok and grass isnt green

When did he ever say give ALL of it to the NHS? ..... i know never!

Wow

Just.

Wow

So you can spell WOW, can you answer the question, with a link of course

It says if will be spent on The NHS

The lengths people will go to..to defend that clown is genuinly hilarious.

It says "Let's fund the NHS instead" I knew scousers had funny accents didn't know they couldn't read.

No mention of all of it anywhere

It's like an episode of the twighlight zone

Lets fund the NHS instead..bit it duesnt mention it anywhere.

Does it say lets spend 350mil on the nhs? No it says it will be used to fund the NHS, if you can't understand the difference then we will just have to leave you all confused in the twilight zone.

So spend and fund are 2 different concepts?

"Use" to fund;

If you ride a donkey you get to "use" the donkey, you don't get the whole donkey "

That analogy simply doesn't work

You dont borrow the NHS

If what you are saying is true.. why didnt they stipulate how much would be spent on the nhs?

The article you linked me to syas he misused not lied the UK back in 2015-16 had to commit 17.6bil to the EU, which works out at around 322mil per week, add in increases for the next budget 350mil per week would not be far wrong.

Interestingly HMRC estimate new customs costs for U.K. business to run at £20 Billion a year . Of which it’s reasonable to expect two thirds of those charges will be paid into the EU. T1s and clearance / discharge costs.

That two thirds equates to £256Million per week.

More than the net payment we used to make to the EU.

This doesn’t include the actual admin costs to U.K. business. Which will also run into billions.

We definitely won’t be giving that to the NHS.

But I bet we won’t see a bus telling us all this either,

But give a lot more back to the EU in custom costs and loss of tax revenue due to banking funds of an estimated £1.6Trillion being moved to the EU .

The tax take on that is greater than our EU contribution .

So losing control of more then, by this measurement.

No. That was from a very broad estimate done two and a half years ago, with no idea what the deal would be, from the BBC article at the time:

“It is based on what officials know of the costs businesses actually face today, but HMRC has not revealed its precise methodology.“

Do we really have to fact check every single one of your statements, it doesn’t half waste time. Why not post credible recent sources that are worth discussing.

Once again the link proves my point in order to try and make the 350mil look incorrect they have moved the goal post to talk about Net figures when the 350mil is the gross figure.

The EU in their controlling of UK funds deigned to REBATE to the UK 78.8mil per week, means they still controlled UK monies.

Not a single remain supporter article will discuss gross figure.

If "it’s reasonable to expect two thirds of those charges will be paid into the EU" then surely the same will work for from the EU side into UK, as the controls do go both ways, do they not? In theory you are correct, however commercial needs will override that.

So for example The Co-op have told their suppliers they will not be paying any costs for customs and suppliers have to pay. So eroding the U.K. suppliers margin if he can’t pass it on.

Equally the majority of clients on the continent will say actually this is a cost brought on by the U.K. so your paying it or we will look elsewhere. The EU is a big customer and supply area.

I can vouch for this actually happening.

The Europeans do sell more to us but ultimately they won’t be taking the cost of Brexit. We will.

It will show over time. Tesco have said there will be a marginal impact after the deal was agreed rather than a large impact. That marginal is the Customs and VAT funding issues with maybe some increase in logistics thrown in. It will be small 2-3% increases is my guess.

The deal has reduced the massive impact on goods from a no deal we were all worried about but the costs to trade have gone up.

Root cause of the new “border” is not Brexit but the good Friday agreement that turned a deliberate blind eye to smuggling from South to North in order to give former terrorists an occupation and keep them quiet.

I’ve not seen that link specifically but I did actually read a fair bit of the deal and noticed that a lot of the language (like fit and proper licence holders etc) is carried over from existing UK and European primary and trade approval legislation.

"Boris went from dead against the idea of a Brexit due to the economic damage it would cause the UK to Brexits the best thing since sliced bread because he saw the potential personal gain.

Wow such negativity and major, even outrageous supposition on your part"

I think he saw that the issue would fracture the Conservative party yes and knew the country would be closely divided so he exploited the situation that ended up with him getting his life's ambition of being PM.

Then did what he wanted.

That is right, he did that too, brexit is the product of false promises.
