Obviously, I can't know that, really.

However, it seems to me that the least he will be able to do is sack all the incompetents Trump appointed to high office and put people worthy of those jobs in their place.

He can reverse a lot of damaging policy on climate change and the environment.

Beyond that, I'm wondering how much the Senate and a right wing judiciary will hobble him.

He will be able to do very little. Odious little toad Mitch McConnell has already said he will steadfastly block hearings for all legislation he brings forward so it can't even go to a vote.

Hopefully the Senate will flip in the 2022 mid-terms when the Republicans are defending twice as many Senate seats as Democrats.

It's possible the Georgia run-off in January will bag the Dems one or two more Senate seats and flip the house.

Biden may also attempt to grant statehood to DC and Puerto Rico which would flip the Senate too. Republicans will do everything the can to block that, because they are so pro-democracy they don't want places represented in the Senate unless they are Republican.

Apparently - and I'm willing to be corrected on this - but if (and it's a big if) the Senate becomes 50/50 Democrat/Republican; and it might because of two seats being up for grabs in Georgia - then, in the case of a tied vote on legislation, the VP gets the casting vote.

Obviously, I'd be in favour of that; but it does seem unlikely.

Still, the idea of VP Harris being able to fuck McConnell up every chance she gets is appealing.

i can make 2..... if thats okay with you...

1) the democrats did a brilliant job in the "get out the vote" operation for the midterms in 2018, which certainly helped with the ongoing effort in 2020 (georgia is the best example of this! stacy abrams did a fantastic job here)

also the republicans stage legistaltures efforts to supress the vote has been more widely popularised... north carolina, texas, ohio, wisconsin ect ect

2) he might have gotten the 2nd highest amount of votes... but he is still likely to lose the popular vote by about 6 million, twice what it was last time when he complained about it....

what it probably showed was how polarising he was, that a lot of the grevence of "white america" is still out there! the dogwhistle were heard loud and clear!

I find it hard to understand why so many vote against there own interests though. Patriotism is all well and good but it does not feed/clothe and house us.

I have been dismayed by the splits and rise of "Populism" figures, who spout there dogma but essentially are unfit for office ,usually lacking the intellect and understanding of the nuances that governing a nation demands

I find it hard to understand why so many vote against there own interests though. Patriotism is all well and good but it does not feed/clothe and house us.

The bad news is there's a willing audience for populists. The good news is that Trump was their totem and he has been deposed.

I beg to differ. Politicians come and go. The same Patriotism your UK military we served with was remarkable. Throughout history UK has been incredibly patriotic. The same food housing and quality of life. You can thank your "Patriots " for. You start to erode that sense of pride then what was the point of fighting for the same thing that you are currently enjoying.
