I think it's very likely he will encourage his supporters to become violent and then not use his power to clamp down on it. If he goes that way, so much for being the law and order president.

She better file for divorce quick, and get what she can get before trumps creditors come after him right after January 20th 2021. A few have already said that their going after some of his assets as soon as he's out of office, because they can't touch him at this point.

Trump may be a one term president but America has changed under him. He has displayed there is a market for race baiting white supremacy and authoritarianism. Trump has shown the power of disinformation and lies is more powerful than ever. After the grifting, twitter fights, impeachment and criminal response to Covid19, its incredible that so many still looked at him and said 'that's my guy'

I said the same once he’s done she’s gone she won’t want to be seen with a one term president.

He’s all talk he won’t do anything but he’ll shout and scream and his psychotic sheep will do the damage, they’ve already started by turning up at counting stations with guns and wanting to stand and “observe” for irregularities. I know in some states it’s been close but to say there’s mass fraud going on is mental that would mean countless states working against him and that not going to happen

"Now it looks odds on hes lost, how much damage will he do out of spite?"

The damage is already done. Trump has divided the USA the way Brexit divided the UK - in as much as they should both drop the U now, since neither is united any more. Nor will they be, for at least a generation.

Why? Well, to 'heal the wounds' / 'kiss and make up', millions of us are going to be expected to agree that corrupt, tax-dodging, misogynistic, homophobic, PoundShop nazis are actually ok, really - just because they sit down to shit, like the rest of us. And vice-versa, of course.

That's not an argument that has any real traction with either side. The USA never really healed after the Civil War; nobody, even the Germans, ever forgave the Nazis.

There are reasons for that - those on the losing side were deeply wrong and so were their values. Obviously, the issues today are less extreme - nobody's fighting a real war over them; but the way politics in the USA and UK are conducted today has left almost no room for compromise at all.

In any case, if a global pandemic and global climate change can't get us to cooperate with each other; Trump really is the least of our worries.

Hopefully this is the start of the end for popularist far right, misinformation based politics.

I hope the UK follows, but I think it's already done so much irreversible damage here already.

I think one of the problems of the left/centre is thinking people will not fall for such mentalism.

But they do..and in great numbers..we saw that with Brexit and the election.

Get the media inside come up with a meaningless slogan and hey Presto.

That's not going away overnight.

It will be seen as an aberration by those who were against Trump and the way forward for those who were for him.

I remember seeing footage from the last 20 years of older people in Russia laying flowers at a monument for Lenin on his birthday. I have little doubt many of Trump's supporters will revere him until they go to their graves.
