Because his policies have been great. The economy boomed pre covid, brought more black people out of poverty than any president in history, created peace with North Korea and created relative peace between Israel and it's neighbours. All unprecedented for any president in history.

Couple this with the fact the left have been burning down cities and killing people all summer why wouldn't you vote for Trump?

Before covid and the riots Trump brought unemployment down to the lowest it has been for many years, also the economy grew.

How the fuck he did it is beyond me! But the numbers don’t lie (well they probably did with his staff)

But this year the Americans are stuck between a rock and a hard place. I mean would you really want either of them

"I might be biased but can anybody understand how nearly 50% of the US can vote for Thrump?"

I think it comes down to the Republicans being willing to play dirty and the Democrats are just clueless at fighting elections.

A lot of Americans just don't feel like they need evidence. Examples if that are religion and QAnon. The Right makes out that the Left are enemies, not opponents. They breed fear and a desire to sock it to the liberals. People get emotionally involved in that rather than looking at arguments and policy.

This lie about Joe Biden being a socialist is incredibly effective despite it being blatantly untrue. Even under Biden the US would remain probably the most capitalist and least socialist countries in the world. But hey ho, it doesn't matter when you can own the Libs?

Are you kidding? The right in the US or the UK think that the left are emotional , deluded and wrong. The left think the right are evil.

Hence why groups like BLM or Antifa have been burning down cities and pulling people out of cars to kill them.

You think I don't follow the news? What do you mean by "groups like Antifa" ? It's not a group. It's an ideology that fascism is bad. If you think it's a group then that calls into question your grasp of the news. There is no group called Antifa that anybody can join.

Do you think fascism is bad? I do. Those people that criticise this mythical group Antifa are presumably saying that fascism is either good or indifferent by criticising the ideology instead of people's actions.

The idea that people are burning down cities is a massive overstatement by right-wingers as an tactic. It is demonstrably false.

There you go. This chap provided you with the answer.

People believe the propaganda without question.

Information and facts are meaningless now.

The result: people still vote for Trump.

Exactly. These are all parrotted Trump tropes. There is no peace between N Korea and America. They are no less of a threat now than before Trump took office.

There is no peace between Israel and Palestine. A landlord (Jared Kushner) tried to impose a peace deal on the Palestinians by dictat and they are resisting it.

The economy was booming under Obama and the increase actually slowed down under Trump. There is no reason to think that anything done by Trump caused the boom. The economy is now suffering terribly but the same people who praise Trump for the boom don't blame him for its decline, so they are cherry-picking their facts.

Millions of people have protested peacefully. There has been a comparatively small amount of trouble amongst the hugely peaceful protests (300 arrests compared with millions of protesters) and yet ALL protesters are presented as rioters and looters.

He probably thinks that Trump has done more for black people than Lyndon B Johnson who passed the Voting Rights Act in the 60s, which the Republicans gutted a few years ago on the basis that there is no more racism in America. Yep, that's what they argued.

It shows the power of lies and propaganda, and shows how effective the Republicans are at fighting elections and how crap the Democrats are at it.

"I might be biased but can anybody understand how nearly 50% of the US can vote for Thrump?"

It isn't 50% of the US who voted for him though. The US voting system is a bit of a mess.

Due to voter apathy and the electoral college Trump won with less actual votes than Hilary in 2016.

Out of all the total votes in 2016 Trump received 46% and Hilary 48%. And I think voter turnout was only about 50% so Trump won with less than 25% of total registered voters voting for him.

Can't speak for the current election as the final figures aren't available yet.

If you can't understand why people would vote for Trump you could start to look at alternative news sources from the ones you have been getting your news from.

With an RSS feed, you can sign up to left-wing, right-wing, political news, economic news and several other types of news outlets so you have a broader understanding about what is going on in the world.

Based on the numbers I'm looking at, he has about 4 million more votes than last time already. And Biden has about 4 million more than Clinton got last time.

When everything has been counted, we'll see there has been a way bigger turnout for this election.

Normally yes. But with Trump you can circumnavigate the press. He boasts on his Twitter about promoting race hate, about destroying the planet and environment, about removing healthcare from those at the bottom of the pile.

The American election is just a repeat of what we are seeing on our own virus forum.

Would you rather lose you job (money, possessions, everything that comes with it) or your life? Easy answer. What good are those things when you're dead. No debate.

But this isn't about that. It's...

Would you allow someone else to die so you can keep your job? Ah now that's a different matter. Now it's a debate.... "well you have to balance people's lives with the economy..." etc etc.

People have been asked why the voted for Trump when he handled the covid pandemic so poorly. They've answered that they aren't scared of covid but worry about losing their job if Biden gets in and enforces lockdown.

So it boils down to human life vs money in the bank.

Economic prosperity looks good on your resume when is comes at the expense of the world environment.

Just remember who walked out of the Paris accord. Reversed the all the Obama environmental acts including changes to the clean water act. Also laws that pander to the fossil fuel industry.

To cover up his changes to this act he murdered an Iranian general, taking America to the brink of war, like he did with his childish tweets against Kim Jong-un.

Most people don't know about how Trump trashed a nature conservation site in Scotland because of his threats to sue anyone who exposes the truth.

Who is saying that? Trump? You might want to ask the residents of Flint County...

Obama spent a lot of time sorting out environmental legislation whilst Trump only reversed most of those laws late in his term. So I wouldn't imagine the results of those law changes to be immediately apparent.

I'd be interested, if it were true, to see how reducing environmental legislation improves conditions. Trump certainly didn't leave the Paris Agreement because he valued the environment over industry.

Trump actually bragged about the fact that he receives money from the oil industry (something exxon vehemently denies). Yet the oil industry provides much of his funding. Conflict of interest? Rex Tillerson..... Trump's Pick For Secretary Of State???

It's a difficult balancing act for sure, now correct me if I'm wrong but aren't emissions down and air and water cleaner in America now than when Trump took over?

I can only go by available data and are we any better? Destroying the planet by wearing our phones and batteries out posting pointless shite on the Internet

Good idea. Let's recycle our phones.

"I might be biased but can anybody understand how nearly 50% of the US can vote for Thrump?"

It's very easy to explain. Being an ignoramus, of any variety, is ok - you're still allowed to vote.

"Economic prosperity looks good on your resume when is comes at the expense of the world environment.

Just remember who walked out of the Paris accord. Reversed the all the Obama environmental acts including changes to the clean water act. Also laws that pander to the fossil fuel industry.

Nice to this scum of a president on his way. Not expecting a dramatic shift in the way America is run but seeing a guy who looks half decent is enough for me. And if the US rejoins the Paris agreement that will do me. Can’t wait to see the face of the prawn ?? when power is handed to Biden.

People are riddled with inconsistencies, biases, ignorance and blindness to their limitations. It's not a great recipe for secret rational evaluation and decisions. Overlay that with great emotional power, tribal herd mentality and a power who will exert influence on people and it's perhaps not too surprising that Trump supporters typically have lower levels of education and expertise. They also have been increasingly unhappy being helped to feel that they are under attack as typical white working men, from liberals wanting to take their privileges and liberties away. These people have been resisting change for years, often are very racist and when you spend much time with them, you can understand how they will vote for someone who manipulates their simple points of leverage in the ways Trump has

Nearly 50 % voted republican .

I'd say 35-40 % of those wish it had been someone different .

The rest clearly voted trump because they

agree with somethings he says.

Fortunately in my Eyes , the Democratis

Tapped into the disbelief some people

really do dislike trump .

Thats why they will win

As of early Friday morning, Mr. Biden has 50.5 per cent of the popular vote (73,488,248), compared to 47.8 per cent for the president (69,622,407).

Opinion polls seem to indicate that Americans want to get rid of Trump rather than having any particular like for Biden.

I'm hoping that Biden will implement some Obama-esque laws and reinstate what Trump overturned during his tenure.

I'm not too concerned about foreign policy etc but do care about environmental policy because we all live on the same planet.

"When the lines of Fox News cut you dead you know it’s the end "

A lot of the American ultra far right are defecting from Fox to Breitbart and Newsmax.

Which are both heavy on conspiracy theories.

At this point Biden wins.

But people spoke in the other races.I agree alot didn't like Trump but the other races take a really hard look at. Seems most voted independent. Not red wave or blue. 2022 going to get real interesting.

What's happening with the Senate? Some news reports are saying that the Republicans have had complications with one of their seats and it's sitting at 48 a piece...

The Democrats failed to win the Senate, however they will have another chance in January, there will be 2 special elections in Georgia for their 2 senate seats.

I just read that The Pentagon has placed the airspace above Biden's house under restricted airspace. Also the Secret Service has allocated Biden with his own team and they are now in place.

It looks to me as if this is all over bar the lawsuits.

Postal votes need to be verified that they were posted and received on time. That they came form the correct address and that they are signed.

Takes longer to count them.

Pennsylvania had two options. Same day voting or postal voting. This had two effects. It gave less time for the votes to be counted and also encouraged postal voting.

He certainly is full of hot air. I'm not sure he's put the wind up anybody, though. The states are just literally doing their job of counting the votes.

That could work well. Middle of the road rather than too far left or right.

Doubt they will work together though.

Taking into account that, people opposed to fascism are considered "extreme far left" over there. I don't see what hope there is to reach any sensible middle ground.

By UK standards the Democrats are basically conservatives....The republicans are a mish mash of UKIP and the BNP...It would be good to think that some moderate republicans could try work across the divide and repair some of the tensions.....First thing is to get Moscow Mitch out to the fringes where he belongs
